Pretty Amazing

Hello - another late nite crafting session for me tonight.

When I saw the prompt at Just Us Girls, I knew I had to play along.  I love sunflowers. They make me happy.

I definitely wanted the sunflowers to make a splash. I was also taken with the red of the barn in the background.

The sunflower image I had was HUGE, so I cut it up and fit the pieces around a woodplank embossed panel.  The sentiment was then heat embossed and die cut along with the "you". The sentiment was added to the panel which was then mounted onto a same color card base.

Sending Hugs

One more before I try to go to sleep.  AAA Cards requires a Clean and Simple card. The prompt is:

I used Winne and Walters large Hugs die. I cut it out and selective stamped and colored on it. Then I placed it back into it's spaces.  I added an outer edge scallop and mounted it onto a white card base. To finish it a stamped sentiment was added above the die cut.

Yellow Blooms

HEllo -

I saw the new Just add ink challenge photo and felt compelled to play with some flowers.

My eye is immediately drawn to the Yellow here.  I see this prompt as 3 panels-- green, yellow and purple.  For my design, I also used 3 sections, two bold yellow surrounding a centered sentiment area.

I used watercolor paper, some yellow watercolors, and a fabulous stamp collaboration by Hero arts and Gina k. Gray ink for stamping, and a  yellow card base, and the card is finished.

Thanks for stopping by.

Thanks

Hello -

Tonight I played with Simon's new #Stamptember stencil Tumbling Leaves, Scattered Straw and Tumbled Glass distress inks, a new SSS Thanks die, SSS stitched rectangle and my neglected Nuvo drops.

The inks were sponged through the stencil with both a light hand and a heavy hand to vary the intensity of the colors.  After completing the panel all items were added to a yellow cardbase.

I am adding this card to three challenges - all three have Anything Goes as the theme.

Happy Birthday

Hello-

I have a birthday card for my Dad. It of course has a cat on it, along with some fall leaves.  One of his cats used to love to play in the leaves when he'd rake them up.  So I thought this would be fun.

I started with a faint bit of scattered straw distress ink laid down with a brush through a pretty pink posh leaves stencil.  Then I stamped Newton in a pile of leaves.  I colored them  simply, as the images are so small, with copic markers and then restamped the image ontop with the help of a misty to sharpen the image.  I used a brownish black ink - Soot by Lawn Fawn.  The sentiment comes from MFT.

This card is going to play at All Sorts Challenge- Trees and Leaves  and CAS on Friday Animals.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hope your day is amazing

Hello,

Today's card is for Altenew's September Inspiration Challenge.

I used three inks from Altenew,  Sand Dune, Autumn Blaze and Midnight Violet along with the Leaf Canopy stamp set. The sentiment comes from Altenew's Fresh Fresia stamp set.

Feel Better Chickee

Hello -

One of the crafty girls caught a bug.  I 'm getting this in the mail to her  in the morning. She'll have it by Thursday with any luck and will be hopefully feeling better by then.

The sketch at Case This Sketch inspired the card.

I used the chick from the MFT set Birthday Chicks, I stamped only the bottom 2/3rd of the image and drew in the top portion. The sentiment was computer generated.  (Use white text and highlight in black. Remember to put spaces in before your first word and after the end of the sentiment closing with a period. That insures you get your black to extend beyond the letters.)

There is a bit of soft blue inking behind the chick and the sentiment.

Joy

Hello-

I thought I would enter MFT's  2019 Card Design Superstar challenge.

I have a nice collection of MFT stamps, dies, stencils and papers. I recently bought the Holiday Penguins set and I had to get them out to play.

So here is my Clean and Simple entry.

My supplies were:
Holiday Penguin Stamp Set
Mini Cloud Edge Stencil
Copic Markers C0,1,3,5,7 y38, r05,17,39

I first stamped and colored my penguin, then fussy cut him out. Then I cut a mask with an open circle and placed it on my card base. I used distress ink in tumbled glass to add the clouds and sky, The ground is scattered straw.  I added the sentiment with versafine onyx black ink. Lastly I added the penguin to complete the card.

Thank You

Hello -

Tonight I worked on a card for CAS Mix Up Challenge.  The theme is:

Inchies are inch squares.

For my card I stamped a Paper Smooches image from Rosie Posey, in a pale ink and did a no-line coloring effect with copic markers.  I then measured and cut out a 2 inch by three inch panel from that image.  I also cut a 2.25 x3.25 inch panel in black.  The colored panel was then cut into 6 one by one inch pieces.  I put adhesive on the back of all six, and then placed foam tape under three of the inchies.

I then placed them onto the black panel starting with the upper left which was on foam tape, next I placed the lower left flat to the panel. The middle two were placed opposite height wise from the two on the left. The two on the right were placed the same heights as the two on the left.  The entire black panel was also foam mounted to the white card base with a simple stamped and heat embossed sentiment in black.

Hello Fall

Hello-

I'm catching up on a few challenges tonight.  Next up, I'm playing along at CAS Stencil Challenge. The challenge is to use a baby wipe over a stencil.

I first added some distress inks to a sheet of cardstock. I then laid a new stencil from Simon Says Stamp's new #Stamptember release (Tumbling Leaves) over the inked panel and laid a baby wipe on top and pressed down.  After that I rubbed it a bit with my fingers over the baby wipe to make sure some ink was removed.

I cut a strip just a bit over an inch wide and mounted it on a card base and added a sentiment to finish the card off.

As always, I love learning the new techniques with the gals running the CAS challenges.

Thanks for visiting.

Autumn Blessings

Hi there,

I have been a bit mojo less lately.  I am getting cards made but its more difficult than usual to come up with ideas.

Today as I was going through challenges, I immediately had an idea for this weeks Color Throwdown Challenge.  The colors are purple, teal and light green.

I got a cool new leaf die from Simon Says Stamp's new #STAMPtember release.  I thought they'd be perfect for a modern fall card.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Focus on the Sentiment

Hi there,

I'm adding another card to the Christmas pile today.  I recently was sent Inside Christmas Greetings by Simon Says Stamp in celebration of their #STAMPtember celebration.

The challenge at Double D Challenges is to focus on the Sentiment.  I chose one of the larger sentiments from the set for this card.  I added some holly to make it a bit more festive.

Thanks much for visiting.

Friendly Challenge with Lacy Leaves

Hello

A few weeks ago my friend Betty sent Greta and I some beautiful lacy leaves. They are delicate and mine are a gradient of blue/teal  to gold tips. Betty challenged us all to make a card with the leaves and to all post them today.

As I looked at these gorgeous delicate leaves I noticed a few of them had a bit of damage at the tips fortunately this worked for my design and I didn't have to feel bad about snipping a bit off.

I arranged three leaves on a white card base with the points overhanging and trimmed. Then I gold heat embossed a flower spray and a sentiment. I fussy cut the spray, adhered it over the leaves, and finished it off with the pale gray sentiment strip embossed with the same gold.  I tried the sentiment strip with white and it just looked odd.  The pale gray though darker than the white added lift to the card somehow - took it from flat to elegant in my opinion.

Now go take a peek at Betty's card here, and Greta's card here.  I'll bet they both have something fabulous posted.

Betty thank you so much for these leaves, and for the fun challenge!

I am entering this card to :  The Flower Challenge and Stamping Sensations.

Hello Fall

Hey there -

I have a CAS card for two challenges tonight - Inspired by Challenge and Addicted to Stamps and More Challenge

You know I love a CAS card so I am always up for that challenge, and this gorgeous picture from Inspired by Challenges really grabbed my attention.

I'm very sure you'll see how they both inspired this card:

The acorns are from Newton's Nook, I colored paper and die cut them, then added some more shading to the tops. The sentiment is also from Newton's Nook.

Thanks so very much for visiting!

Twofer Card Challenge 20 Critters

Hi there!

Its time for another Twofer Card Challenge.

 https://twofercardchallenge.blogspot.com/2019/09/twofer-card-challenge-20.html

Click on the Graphic to be taken to the challenge page.

As usual, lets start with the sketches.  I didn't want two different shaped cards, so I had to make sure the designs were different.  Sketching out the basic layout really helps with this.

A darling set of foxes along with a couple of mice recently joined my stash.  I stamped out the foxes and several mice and colored them with copics, after die cutting them I set about making my scenes.

My first design, is my go-to style.  Lots of open space with a main image and sentiment in close.  I loved the idea of the lil mouse getting a lift up as a thank you card.  I put soft inking behind the tree to ground the scene a bit.  My common stamp is the fox with his tail to the left.

The next design is also in the CAS style, but is confined to the upper third of the card.  My second scene is also quite simple, and the sentiment Hey, You! is one I often use when meeting up with friends...its quickly followed with a hug.

I am also entering this card at Double D Challenges - Featured (the fox from the mood board.)

I hope to see your critter cards in the Twofer Card Challenge gallery.   Thanks for visiting.

Hey Gull friend

Hi there -

A few days ago hubs and I took a day to play...or rather sit and enjoy the view at Colonial Beach in Virginia.  It's a 45 minute drive from our place.  We discovered it on one of our Loveworks outings.

Loveworks are signs that are all over Virginia as part of their tourism recruitment. The motto is Virginia is for lovers.

First the card, then some pictures.   Peggy surprised me with these cute seagulls from Newton's Nook so I had to pull them out and play before fall arrives.

These two cuties were colored with copic markers.  A bit of water was added with some distress ink sponging in tumbled glass to the bottom of the card.  I am submitting this card to Addicted to Stamps - Make your Mark.

Here is the love sign we first discovered last August (2018).

And this was out view as we enjoyed the shade of a tree.  Its a small beach on the shore of the Potomac just across the river from Maryland.  There were some waves crashing against the sand, so it really felt and sounded beachy.  Since Labor Day had passed and the schools started, the gull like us had the place to themselves.

Almost very piling was topped with a seagull, and there were two osprey's hanging out too.

Hubs and I got some peel and eat shrimp and the gulls loved the tails.  It was a relaxing day of reading and enjoying the scenery with hubs.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Three more for the stack

Hello -

I did not manage my Christmas card making. I had hoped to be done by now...but I've only got half of them done. Another 30 to go.

I was inspired by Christmas Kickstart Challenge for these cards.  I was also quite thrilled to have received a free Simon Says Stamp set for their annual stamp fest Stamptember.  The set is Inside Christmas Greetings - but I am rebelling and using them on the outside!

The challenge prompt is to Get a Head-er Start, and be inspired by the blog header :

I love those colors, the gold silver read and teal.  I went with hanging ornaments and a statement sentiment for my cards...yes more than one.  I had fun playing and all three were inspired by this header.

First off  Teal and Gold embossing :

Next Red with Silver embossing:

Lastly, some pearl embossing over Red, Teal, and Black stamping. Thank goodness for the misti - allowed dye inking and versamark inking on top for the embossing powder.

And just so I don't clutter up the challenge gallery, I am submitting them all together.

Thanks so much for stopping by...how's your stash of Christmas cards coming along?

A Picnic

Hello -

Hubs and I are off to a little beach on the Potomac tomorrow for a day trip of relaxing and feeding the seagulls.

I am a lover of picnics, food seems to taste better outside.  I had to laugh when I spied this stamp by Newton's Nook.  Of course it had to join my stash.

The sketch at Case this Sketch almost seemed made for the stamp image.

I wanted more fall shades since it is September already...(where did that summer go?)

Here is the sketch:
