Happy Birthday

 Hello-

I am working on my September birthday cards. I have 7 to make and 4 are the dreaded guy cards. This is one of my more manly cards for an airplane aficionado.

This card was inspired by Cupcake Inspirations.

The sentiment comes from SSS - Circle Sayings stamped directly on the card base; I cut a circle using a Sizzix circle die inside the sentiment line. Glued to the backside of the front panel is a cloud embossed panel (thank you Michele) and popped up on foam is the airplane from MFT's Flying High Adventures.

Thanks for visiting, it feels good to be back at the craft desk!

Awesome Day

 Hello-

I am back from my break.  We visited Vic's folks for his Dad's birthday, and I took a few extra days to both get ready for the trip and recuperate afterwards.  For likely the first time, we came home to a clean house in the sense that it didn't look like we had packed frantically at the last minute leaving a tornado like debris field in our wake.

It was lovely returning to an orderly home, and I think I will keep that in mind for the future.

I haven't crafted in quite awhile, and the easiest way for me to get back to it is to play in challenges.

Three challenges inspired this card. AAA Card Game, Time Out Challenges, and Watercooler Wednesday.

Thank you so much for visiting, and I will be back to commenting on your creations tomorrow.  Its overwhelming to comment on all those I missed while I took my break, so I am starting tomorrow anew.

Happy Birthday and a break

 Hi all...

Just a quick note that I am going to take a break again...and I'll be back in September.

I was irritated after making this card, and I was not going to share it.  Its been sent off so I cannot re-photograph it in my usual square style.  But I have come to like the card and I thought I would share it and how this design came to be.

I had colored this image; after it dried I went to cut it with the scalloped border die. I did it from the blind side of my vagabond - meaning I plopped it down on the cutting plate and placed the second cutting plate on top of it without examining everything as it was on the far side of the rollers not the near side I generally use.  Unfortunately, I had a word die that was stuck to one of the cutting plates and it ended up cutting into the panel inside the scalloped edges.

Too much time was spend coloring this, so I had to come up with some creative fixing. I cut around the image chose a card base that matched the leaves somewhat and added the gold sentiment and a few gold sequins.  I think it works.

How do you think I did?

Birthdays

Hello- Back in the crafty space for a few hours today.  Two cards for two challenges each.

I have quite a few August birthdays, thankfully later this month so I can get them made and mailed.

This one is visiting Watercooler Wednesday and The Male Room.
The stamp is from Stampin up and I thought it made a
good summer birthday scene for a man.

This card will visit the Flower Challenge and Just Add Ink.

The flower bouquet is from Penny Black and the image is copic colored.

Thanks so much for visiting. Enjoy your Sunday.

Ice Cream

 Hey there -

I admit to having been caught up in the Olympics.  So not a whole lot of cardmaking has been going on. Today is a mild softly raining day, and its perfect for cardmaking along with a bit of binge watching of MI-5, a British spy drama.

I used copics for image coloring and inks for the blended background. This is visiting both Addicted to Stamps and More - Make your Mark and Stamping Sensations - Any Occasion.

This is an unconventional birthday card in the sense that there is no "Happy Birthday" on the front. The birthday wishes are inside.  Cake isn't mandatory for Birthday celebrations.  I used to love a banana cream pie from Marie Callendar's when I lived in California.  An Ice Cream lover might prefer a big ole cone to celebrate the big day.

What's your favorite birthday celebration treat?

Thanks for visiting.

Sympathy

 Hello-

No sympathy card is fun to make, and especially not those for the furry family members. This is for a friend who recently lost her pup.

I was inspired to use the colors from Color Throwdown. They seemed perfect for the mood of the card.

Thanks for visiting.

Merry at Christmas Kickstart

 Hello-

As I was checking out Facebook, Michele of I Card Everyone popped up in my messenger and asked if I wanted to play cards.  Well - heck yes! So I asked what she was doing and she was working on a card for Christmas Kickstart.  Since its on my to do list, I decided to join in.

First of course, we had to catch up, but then the cardmaking began.  I was inspired by the houses, the bottle brush trees and the red and white striped packages.

Can you see my points of inspiration from the photo?

Go visit Michele and see her take on the challenge too.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hello CCC

 Hey There -

My card for the Card Chain Challenge in July is going to England and my friend Hilary.  I am sending her a load of summery yellow.

I am not a card planner naturally...meaning I don't plan them before getting started.  I will look at a challenge and see what the requirements are and then I just go.  So sometimes a card emerges that is totally not my usual style like this one, but I like it.

I went with the sketch and the colors somewhat, the peach is hard to find but is in between the rays.  That sweet little lighthouse is from Heffy Doodle, the sentiment is from CTMH and I used various dies from SSS, MFT, and NND. The rays stencil is from Tim Holtz, and I used Hero arts inks.

Thanks for visiting.
