CAS Stencil

Hello--

Today I am hurrying to get a couple of cards posted to the CAS Stencil Challenge.  The theme is layered stencils.

Square stencil inked with two shades, then fireworks
stencil overlaid and embossed in silver.

First stencil was inked in broken china, and then
I laid a wood grain stencil over the first stencil
to preserve the white lines and I added iced spruce ink.
I thought it made a good ocean, so I added a whale tale.

This card is also going to visit Addicted to Stamps, the whale
tale was the inspiration in the lower left corner.

Guest Designing at CAS Stencil

Hello-

I can't tell you how thrilled I was to have been asked to Guest Design by Loll at CAS Stencil.  I love all the CAS challenges (Stencil, Watercolor, Mix it up, and Christmas).  I always learn something each month.

This month's  stencil challenge is:

There are several videos over at the main challenge page for CAS Stencil to walk you through the technique.

I chose a Penny Black stencil, pressed my versamark ink pad directly to the paper through the stencil.   I then added copper embossing powder from Ranger and finished with heating. Next I added the little sentiment from CTMH and heat embossed it as well. I die cut the panel and mounted it on a pale gray card base.

Thanks so much for playing along; I really hope to see you in the gallery!

Happy Birthday

Hello -

I finally feel like I am getting back into the swing of things despite my crazy vampire hours.

Tonight's card is for two challenges - CAS Stencil celebrating their first birthday and Seize the Birthday who wants a stencil used on our cards.

I used a new to me stencil from Pretty Pink Posh...I got it in the fall be neglected to ink it up until now.  Its a lovely leafy pattern and should work year round.  I used distress inks in mowed lawn, iced spruce, and mermaid lagoon. I applied color with a makeup brush.

Thanks for visiting.

Triple CAS

Hi there -

Where has this month gone????  I looked at the calendar and saw it was the 24th and realized I had yet to play along with the ladies at the CAS challenges...so I got myself to my craft space and had some play time.

I started with CAS Stencil - Monoprint, because it needed drying time.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Next I played with CAS Mix up -  Oxidized Metal.
This one was tough for me for some reason.
I have stamping, oxidized metal and embossing both dry and heat.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

My final card is for CAS Watercolour - Monochromatic

I used reds from the distress inks and some gold embossing hopefully this
counts as a neutral and doesn't disqualify the card.

It was an enjoyable evening of crafting and getting inky.  Thanks for visiting and have a fabulous week.

Hello Fall

Hello-

I'm catching up on a few challenges tonight.  Next up, I'm playing along at CAS Stencil Challenge. The challenge is to use a baby wipe over a stencil.

I first added some distress inks to a sheet of cardstock. I then laid a new stencil from Simon Says Stamp's new #Stamptember release (Tumbling Leaves) over the inked panel and laid a baby wipe on top and pressed down.  After that I rubbed it a bit with my fingers over the baby wipe to make sure some ink was removed.

I cut a strip just a bit over an inch wide and mounted it on a card base and added a sentiment to finish the card off.

As always, I love learning the new techniques with the gals running the CAS challenges.

Thanks for visiting.

Couple of CAS Challenges

Hi There,

How is it the 21st of August already...it was just July!  I love the CAS Challenges (Mix Up, Watercolor, Christmas and Stencil). They've introduced me to many new techniques.

For this post, I am showing cards for two of the challenges: CAS Stencil and CAS Mix UP.

I started with the stencil card,  I placed a Flower Frenzy stencil on watercolor paper and spritz it with two shades of Heidi Swap sprays teal and green.  I mopped up with a paper towel there were lots of splooges all over.  The blotting made the sprays lighter.  So my first two attempts will be kept for something later.  My third attempt I used hot press water color card, and I had a bit better control on the spray.  I was able to get a light spray.  I love how the colors mixed.   I decide to add some clear pearl embossing powder ontop. The spray is very sticky so this worked well.  I love the texture and pearl effect this gave off.

My next card is for CAS Mix Up.

I took the messy and sticky paper towel and laid it on more hotpress watercolor paper.  After lightly spritzing with water, I put a round stamping block on top of it and the used my fingertips to tamp down on it. I wanted to preserve the dimples from the paper towel in the color transfer.

I didn't get quite the look I wanted, the circle image wasn't clear enough, but the color with the dots intact was perfect.  So I diecut a window cardbase to go over the piece.  I die cut a daisy added it to the aperture,  heat embossed a sentiment on a strip of same the same  piece. That too was diecut and placed on the card front.

Both pieces are much more soft than my ususal colors, and I think they are great additions to my stash.  Thanks so much for visiting.

Last Minute CAS Cards

Hello -

Time has gotten away from me...mostly because of the vampire hours I keep I suppose.  I really wanted to play in both the CAS Mix Up Challenge and the CAS Stencil Challenge.  I was kinda bummed tonight as I was going to delete them from my list...but Yahoo thanks to the time zones I still had a couple of hours. I apologize to the DT's and coordinator of each challenge for the very late entries.

So here we go, one thank you card for each challenge because my stash is low and I am luckily suddenly in need of several.

My choices were Stamping my sentiment with Alcohol Lift pad and a stacked die cut.

I use a small dauber that I repeatedly pounced on the alcohol lift pad and then into the open stencil areas.  This stencil is from Hero Arts.  This panel is a combination of regular AI and AI pearl inks.

This one also goes to CAS on Friday-Stencil.

For your blog

Thank You

Hello -

I wasn't very productive today, I wanted to get two cards made, but fortunately I think I still have tomorrow to get the second card made.

Tonight I have one for you, I'm entering it to two challenges:
CAS Stencil - Perfect Pearls  and Penny Black Saturday Challenge -Anything goes or partial stamping.

I used the Penny Black stencil Verdant along with copper colored perfect pearls on a square card front.  I've only used a small part of the top of the stencil for both images.

I sponged on versamark, then leaving the stencil in place brushed on the perfect pearls in copper. It gave me cleaner edges I think ---but left a messy stencil,  no worries it cleaned up easily with soap and water.

Lastly I added the CTMH Sentiment with copper EP from Stampin Up.  I'm quite pleased with the movement the two flowered corners with that sentiment seemingly connecting them.

Thanks much for stopping by.

CAS Stencil May 2019

Hello -

If you are the US, I hope you are getting an early start on your Memorial Day Weekend.  I had lunch with my crafty group yesterday and it feels like my long weekend started yesterday...even though I am retired I still look forward to long weekends.

I am late to the CAS Stencil party but I sat myself down with some distress inks, sponge blenders, a stencil, die, and my new Make Art Stay-tion.  I have to say I loved using it. It was perfect for holding down the stencil and the card stock. Neither piece moved when I started blending on it and through the stencil.

I started with a piece of cream cardstock and blended on cracked pistachio and salty ocean.  Next I laid the tiny leaves stencil down and added pine needles distress ink over the blended card.

I cut the piece down and mounted it on a coordinating green card base.  Three layers of the fresh daisies die were cut from white Neenah prepared with double sided tape for easier layering; and lastly the SSS sentiment was white heat embossed on the green card.

Thanks for visiting.

Best Wishes

Hello~

I've got another card for a couple of challenges.  I kept the water colors out and added the jar of embossing paste to my supplies.  This card will be entered to CAS Stencil Challenge and Addicted to CAS Ombre.  And its a stretch, as mine is a mirror image of the sketch at Case this Sketch.

I began with a piece of taped down watercolor paper.  I wet the panel in a small elongated triangle. I added lots of watercolor at the bottom and drew it up the panel.  I used some water to take out some pigment at the top of the color, dried it and added another layer of color at the bottom.  Once that dried, I added some embossing paste through the SSS leaf stencil.  I topped that off with a silver embossed flower on vellum from Altenew.  A small sentiment in sliver on black balances the bright pink.

Thanks much for stopping by.

Ghosting

Hello-

Back with another challenge entry.  CAS Stencil's prompt is Ghosting.

I used two shades of distress oxide inks, peacock feathers and salty ocean along with SSS's Best Fishes stamp set and waves stencil.  I had some difficulties, because I couldn't let go of my idea.  I picked a bad stencil for this idea. Too much open space and too small lines.  My open areas kept bleeding beneath the lines of the stencil.  So finally, I just wet the stencil and laid it on my ink, blotted with a paper towel, then lifted the stencil and blotted again. It gave me the lines I wanted.

I finished it up by stamping my images in versafine onyx black ink.  I love those blues and greens and they kinda washed out on a white card, so I mounted the panel on black. Its much more cohesive and the colors look bolder.  I am happy with the end result.

Edited to Add, I am also adding this to Casology - Ocean.  I clicked publish too fast!

Thanks much for stopping by!

The brusho left overs

Hi there,

I posted earlier tonight my first brusho / stencil experiment. I loved how it turned out. It was nice and controlled. I stayed within the lines for the most part.

I created these panels all at the same time.  After selecting one for my last post, these were the remaining panels.  I decided to make them into cards as well.

I'll be submitting these to CAS Stencil, International Art & Soul, Simon's Wednesday Challenge and AAA Cards.

This is the intended piece, created with torquoise brushos and a fern stencil. Again this stencil has a tacky back so it stays in place.  I blocked off the edges so there would be no over-spray into the upper panel area.  This card is being submitted to AAA Card, CAS Stencil and Simon's Wednesday Challenge.

There was a lot of color left over,  so I laid a piece of watercolor paper on the top of the stencil after I had taken off the piece above. I love all the color on this.  This will be submitted to International Art and Soul a new to me challenge calling for a monochromatic card.

After getting the above panel, it seemed as if there was still some watercolor left to play with, so I dropped another panel onto the stencil.  I needed a card for my Godson's Dad who just had a knee replaced, so I thought this might work.  I'll be submitting this to another new to me blog, Crafty Animals.

Blog Badge

Lastly, is the second piece made from my first piece on my previous post.  I wasn't originally sure that It would work out.  Red and green blending end up making brown, so I wanted to see how it dried.   I like that it is so different from anything I usually make.

Thanks so much for coming by, and especially if you made it through to the end.

Playing with Brushos

Hi there~

I have a card for three challenges, CAS Stencil Challenge,  Penny Black Saturday Challenge and Seize the Birthday.

I used Brusho's in green and red along with a Penny Black Stencil,  Promenade.  I checked out a few You Tube videos for some technical help.

I thought it might get really messy, but it turned out pretty well controlled within the stencil openings since I have re-positional spray glue on the backs of most of my stencils.

I finished the card by putting it on a black card base and added a birthday sentiment. I love the bold colors with the black.

Thanks so very much for stopping by.
