A quick share with a new stamp set from Stampin Up called Heron Habitat.  I thought it would make a good card for hubs' birthday this month.

We see herons here several times a month, so I thought he'd enjoy the card. Keeping it manly with blue, browns and blacks.

Thanks for stopping by.

 Hey There--

I am on a roll this week.  Been in my craft room 3 days plus.  The colors at Color Hues  are brown and  yellow.  If you know me you know that yellow is my favorite color. So I had to play along.

This MFT bouquet has been sitting in my new stuff bin far to long, I recently got the die on sale. So it was time for it to come out and play.  I had to re-aquaint myself with my Copic markers. It was a bit difficult to get into the grove when one of my darker yellows turned up dry with a loose cap the refill did me no good I have to order another... and then I have somehow mislaid my copic blend swatch cards. I have no idea how, because its a big unwieldy thing. Onward!

The stems, leaves and flower centers are all different brown shades, the flowers of course are yellow shades.  I did some inking on the card base. I wont call it blending as its a bit splotchy which I quite like...kind of a foggy shadow. The sentiment from the flower set is heat embossed on vellum, with a second layer of vellum underneath to make the sentiment show up and still leave the blooms showing through too.

Thanks so much for visiting.

Today I played with new things.

I splurged on the Distress watercolor crayons, and in a word...LOVE them. Actual watercolor paints and I have a fantasy relationship. I think I can use them to color, but the results always disappoint me. I don't seem to get that translucent feel I'm looking for.  So I am going to stick with moveable ink type colors and these lovely crayons.

I have a card for We Love Stamping- Anything Goes and The Flower Challenge add some sparkle.

My sparkle comes by way of goldenrod colored gems added to the image.  I am pleased with the way I was able to play with the watercolor crayons, it was quite fun and relaxing and I did enjoy every moment.

Please share our challenge logo

I decided to play with two challenges today.

First up is Less is More - Black and White.  This is truely a CAS card, quick to make. I used some Stampin Up Patterned paper, an MFT Die Cut Leaf branch and an MFT sentiment.

Next up, another card for the Christmas stash, inspired by Let's Squash it.  2/3'rds of the card should be dry embossed.

I used a Stampin Up snowflake EF, and some Lawn Fawn snowflake dies cut from platinum mirror card. The sentiment from SSS was heat embossed with platinum ep.

 Good Morning!

I've been working on this card for several hours, since I can't seem to sleep.  I saw those luscious pumpkins at Color Throwdown, and I had to play with their colors of blue aqua, kraft and cream.

I started with an MFT vine wreath cut from kraft, and then added loads of Lawn fawn leaves cut in 3 shades of blue aqua and layered them up.  I wasn't satisfied with the wreath only partially covered with leaves; showing the twigs I ended up with the entire wreath covered with leaves.

I added gems and the sentiment stamped in a kraft colored ink...but it seemed lacking the kraft color.  Three little bows fixed that for me. I think its a sweet card.

I was inspired by all the glittery and shiny beauties over at CAS Christmas for this card.

Although I thought I had finished my Halloween cards, I got this one in my head after taking a gander at the challenge over at Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge, and the colors from Four Seasons September anything goes challenge added to the design as well.

I still had Stampin Up's Bewitching stamp set out and I hadn't played with all of the stamps yet. So I grabbed an embossed spider web panel (I had sold the ef, but ran a dozen panels through first to keep) and added the hat and shoes along with a die cut and layered boo sentiment from Simon Says Stamp. All were mounted onto a purple card base along with some black gems.

Thanks much for visiting.

 Greetings -

I love the stamps and dies from Newton's Nook Design, so when I saw this Inky Paws challenge I had to play along.

I stamped the NND image in versafine sepia ink and used colored pencils to add color. The sentiment comes from SSS.  Then panel was die cut (Reverse Confettii) and placed on an orange cardbase.

I am also adding this card to the Time Out Gallery - Festive.  And to the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

A quick CAS card for CAS Christmas.  I'll probably make a few more for my stash with other holiday greetings. CAS Christmas is asking for Pine as their theme this month.

The bough is from Stampin up and I added a few red gems to add small bits of color.

Thanks for visiting.

I am sneaking in almost at the wire to Cupcake Inspirations. The challenge is a color challenge for pink, gray and white.

I have such a hard time with those darned slimline cards and photographs. I played again with Pink Fresh's Floral Notes.

8-14-22 +1

Two challenges come together to provide the inspiration for this card.

I used Pink Fresh's Floral notes Stamp, Stencil for coloring and Die to cut the image out.  It makes for quite a quick card, and I love the big image.

My card will visit the galleries for:

Just us Girls - Stencil

Addicted to Stamps and More - Die Cuts and Stencils

Thanks so much for visiting.

I have two cards to share today.  They'll be visiting a few challenges.

This card will be visiting Can you Handle the Pressure  where use of an embossing folder is required and the optional twist this challenge is Dogs/Cats/Pets! and Festive Friday also with a dog theme, I've included elements of Dog, paw prints, and texture.

My second card is:

This card will be visiting Two Old Bats Halloween challenge. I'm not one for scary Halloween, but I do like cute.  I liked the black and white in the lower left photo.

 Hello there-

The temps are starting to come down some, so I am spending more time upstairs. It seems the humidity seems to linger upstairs so even with the AC the stickiness bugs me and I tend to stay  downstairs where it is cooler.

Again I have two cards for you which were inspired by three challenges.  In order of challenge closing:

Less is More has a theme of Butterflies.  I hope just one will do... I used the sketch from Just Add Ink for the card design,

My second card goes to Double D Challenges with a Theme of Lighthouse.

Time to go make some food, thanks so very much for stopping by!

I finally found the umph to sit down and play with some challenges.

First up is Color Throwdown using white, black, brown and green.

Next is Time Out with a photo inspiration. Its a gorgeous photo and I took a literal approach to my card.

Time to get ready to visit the farmers market, so these are it for today.  I am quite happy with both cards. Thank you so much for visiting.

I finally found some energy and time to sit at my desk and make a couple of cards.  I am determined to keep to my 5 cards a month for Christmas.  These two will bring me current to 36 (1 extra, so I'll just need 4 next month).

Two challenges provided the inspiration for the cards, one Less is More - traditional Christmas, and Christmas Kickstart - snowfolk.

Thanks so much for visiting.

Finally the wash is done, the suitcases are unpacked a couple of organizing projects and house straightening is done. So I am back at my desk to make a card.

This one is going to a young lady I met in Utah, she is the granddaughter of my Dad's wife.  I hope she likes it.  I got my inspiration from the Tic Tac Toe Challenge, using the middle row Birthday, Flowers, and Sequins.

It took quite a bit of time for me, well over 90 minutes.  I am so out of practice after more than a month.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

No card, just a life update...

We drove to Utah to visit my Dad and meet in person his bride of two years, while we have face timed during that time, its not quite the same.  We stopped in Ohio on our way out.

It was brutal driving. I have mobility issues and my knees were not happy. But it was worth it to see my Dad after 3 years and meet Dianne in person. Those were some of the best hugs.

We got to Utah in time for Father's Day, which was nice. Dianne cooked up a lovely roast meal and we watched Downton Abbey's new movie.  I cuddled the cats and met Snickers the pup. He is a hoot!

Then we had loads of sight seeing planned.  Until... hubs started feeling unwell on Monday.

On Wednesday, he tested positive for covid, I followed on Friday along with my Dad and Dianne. We soon found out that hub's folks also came down with Covid on Monday.  As far as we can tell our dinner out Saturday night was the point of infection.  Hub's folks also had a dinner that night where subsequently several attendees came down with Covid.

So no sight seeing was done, we extended our stay a week longer than originally planned to get over it. Fortunately no one had to go to the hospital, we were able to fight most of it off with fluids, musinex, and rest. We all have a bit of a cough still, it sneaks up and hubs and I still feel some tiredness.

As we drove back east, we planned on stopping in Ohio to spend some time with hub's folks but were concerned about having each caught differing strains of covid.  Fortunately all 4 of us tested negative the day of our arrival in Ohio so we could spend some time together. It was the best visit. Very low key.

Hubs and I made one bad decision, to go out to a restaurant without masking. After being hyper careful for more than two years, we paid for that bad decision.  Please be careful out there. Even the less deadly strain of Covid will kick your butt for a week. I don't wish that on anyone.  Our nephew had covid in October, was ill for close to a month...and he caught again while we all had it. Much less severe the second time...but who wants to battle it again?

So if you've stayed with me this long, I have no energy to go back through more than a month's worth of posts, but look forward to seeing your lovely creations and commenting on them going forward tomorrow. I hope you are all well and stay that way.
