With Sympathy

Hello

Yesterday I filled the hole I had in my get well cards slot of my card stash.  I found I also had also just mailed my last sympathy card.  I prefer to have them on hand, instead of making them up as needed.

Watercolor Wednesday Challenge this week is all about occasions, including sympathy.

I prefer my sympathy cards to include a monochrome palette and a botanical image with a simple sentiment.

Here are my offerings today:

Penny Black Bejeweled
 Hero Arts With Sympathy

Hero Arts Delicate Vines
Hero Arts Remember

Hero Arts Delicate Leaf Clusters
Hero Arts Remember

Hopefully these will sit in my card box for a long time.  Thanks so much for visiting.

Playing with leftovers

Hello -

I rearranged the table space I work on to make cards and found three images I had colored and fussy cut last year for get well/feel better cards.  I just sent off my last get well from my stash, so I sat down with my leftovers and made 3 cards.

Fortunately for me, one was colored orange and gray which fit perfectly to The Color Throwdown challenge.  I just needed to add some cream.

I found a scrap of patterned paper with cream dots on a gray background along with a stack of circles I had cut out for another project.

I used a cream colored cardbase, and a cream diecut circle to put together my panel for my cream colored card base.  I added a sentiment and stamped a couple of pill bottles onto the circle and colored those.  Then I added the cat image to the circle finishing off the card.

I still had two more kitties and more left overs so I made two more cards, but they are not for the challenge.

Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Halloween

Hello -

This is my second time writing this post.  I inadvertently wrote it originally on a blog team post.  Arrgh.  I deleted it hopefully quickly enough and am now starting over.

Its another laundry Monday and that gives me time to sit and create between loads and moving clothes from the washer to the dryer.  One of these days those combination washer/dryers will add a folding combination and will be the perfect household appliance.  I've seen videos of the folding machines and they look pretty cool.

Another thing that is pretty cool is when I look at a challenge and the card idea just pops and it takes but a few minutes to create.  That is how my first card went today.

I had some patterned papers on my desk reminiscent of the images in the photo at Inspired by,  I loved the sketch and black pumpkin at Fusion, and The Male Room calls for a masculine Halloween Card.  The papers and sentiment come from Stampin Up, the dies are from Simon Says Stamp. I had a bit of orange fun foam on my desk too which added some depth and texture.

Edited to Add: I knew there was one more challenge with plaid, thank you Barb for pointing it out. Adding to that challegne too.  Addicted to CAS.

Thanks so very much for stopping by.

Happy Holidays

Hello-
fter lunch and laundry I managed to get another card made.  This one was inspired by Just us Girls- Frame it and Christmas Kickstart Challenge - Woodland Creatures.

My supplies were: Copic Markers, SSS Birch Tree window, MFT Fox and Friend, MFT Snow Globe Sentiments, and MFT's Pierced Oval Frames along with some blue glitter paper from MFT. The shine IRL is amazing.

Thanks so much for visiting.

Hello Fall

Hey There -

One of the upsides of our trip for hub's conference was sleep.  We both got to better schedules.  I have slept through several nights in a row, and was up at 7:30 this morning ready to go.  Monday is laundry day here and its a lovely day. About 70 outside so the windows are open, and I am crafting between runs to the washer and dryer.

On to my card...it was inspired by two challenges Case this Sketch and Just add Ink.

I love these CTMH pumpkins. I stamped them with barely beige ink from Simon Says Stamp so I could do a no line coloring look.  The sentiment embossed in white also comes from the CTMH set Autumn Blessings.  After coloring and cutting them out, the outer two were adhered flat, the next two on one layer of foam tape and the center on two layers of foam tape.  I added a few peachy toned gems and some shadow under the pumpkins.

Do you have a set laundry day?  Do you craft while waiting on the loads?
Thanks for visiting.

Autumn

Hello -

Autumn, my second favorite season following Spring. Winter ranks third and summer - oh am I glad it is on its way out.

Today, I hope to play in several challenges... to start things off the card below will be visiting galleries at AAA Cards, Shopping Our Stash and Simon Says Stamp's Monday Challenge.

For this one layer card I've used a cream colored card base; added a brown heat embossed sentiment from Winnie and Walter. Then surrounded it with some colorful oak leaves (gold embossed and inked up with several distress oxide inks in fossilized amber, candied apple, peeled paint and wild honey.)

Thanks much for stopping by, and I hope you are getting inky today too!

Beautiful Fall

Hello -

Hubs and I were off to a conference for his business earlier this week. He spent time in his seminars, I spent time relaxing, not cooking, not cleaning and not doing laundry.  It was perfect weather for me - overcast, rainy.  From our room's window I saw the ocean, and I spent a bit of time watching the waves come in.  As the storm got closer- the swells and waves got bigger.  There was a small pier going out towards the water. It was old and dilapidated.  As the tides got higher in the evenings it would be 7/8ths under water.

The morning we left the sun came out; the view opposite the ocean had buildings.  The color of the early morning sunshine on those buildings had a fabulous tone.  I took a photo, but it doesn't do it justice.  I'll post it at the end of my post.

On to the card for today.  The colors at Color Throwdown are Red, Yellow and Brown.

To my stamped and gold embossed leaves, I added distress oxide inks in candied apple and wild honey overlapping the colors in parts of the leaves.  The sentiment was added to a brown strip also embossed in gold.

I love the way the oxide inks blend, perfect for some fall leaves.

Here is the view from our room looking opposite the ocean.  The light was magical that morning may be an hour after sunrise.  Or maybe it was just the difference between sunshine and the previous several overcast and stormy days. Either way, I loved the view.

Thanks for stopping by.

Twofer Card Challenge 21

Hi There!

Its time for another Twofer Card Challenge, and this month the prompt is:

Remember the Twofer Challenge has specific requirements:

For most of the challenges I just sit down and start creating. I rarely have a plan.  That is not a good way for me to go about my design team cards for this challenge.  I need to start out with a sketch to make sure my designs are different.  I might go off the rails a bit from my sketch, but my cards end up being pretty close.  Let me know if you know where I didn't follow this months sketch!

I have a fun PTI set cut out and frosted cookies. I thought they'd be perfect for this challenge.  It took me a bit to figure out a second occasion using this set, but it finally came to me when I was drawing the sketches.

And now  individually:

My common element is the outside star shape frosting layer.

Thanks so much for coming by, and I hope to see you in the
Twofer Card Challenge gallery this month!

WCMD Round 2

Hello -

I decided to take a lil nap, and have some lunch. Now I am back at it.  I am really enjoying making cards today.

Color Throwdown and The Male Room will be getting this card added to their galleries.

This is an older Paper Smooches set. I colored the scarecrow with the colors from Color Throwdown adding neutrals in brown shades.  Scarecrows are definitely suitable for a man card. This one will be going to my Dad.

This row of pumpkins is heading off to visit three galleries - Just Add Ink (sketch), Double D (orange and white) and Inspired by (photo inspiration.)

This is a new stamp set from CTMH, it features a row of pumpkins which I stamped twice above along with 3 sentiments and 3 stand alone pumpkins. I used another sentiment set for this card due to size limits on the design. The pumpkins were colored with copics.

I think its time for some football and maybe another little snooze.  I hope you all have had some cardmaking time today or will before the weekend is out.

Thanks so much for visiting.

World Card Making Day 2019

Hello -

Today I hope to spend lots of time making cards.  I have lots of challenges I want to participate in. I pre cooked food yesterday and it only needs warming up, so hubs won't have to fend for himself today.

Right now I have my list of watch later you tube videos playing so I have "company" making cards today.  Later on, I'll turn on the college football.

Since I hope to make a lot of cards to day, I am going to post several challenges and cards in one post together.

First up Freshly Made Sketches  and Inspired by Challenge.

I stamped with memento tuxedo black and colored with copics, then overstamped with versafine onyx black to make crisp lines.  The sentiment was also added with the versafine.

Next up The Card Concept and Watercooler Wednesday Challenge . Watercooler Wednesday calls for  feminine anything goes, and the Card Concept has the graphic below.

The striped panel is an Avery Elle diecut, the flowers are from Altenew and the sentiment is from CTMH.

Its a beautiful day outside, so my window is open and my photos are in front of my view.

Are you getting a chance to make some cards for WCMD?

Thanks for stopping by.
