Twofer Card Challenge 19

Greetings....

Well my nerves are now calmed down after successfully having had my first post with the team at Twofer Card Challenge last month.  Everyone has been very nice and welcoming.

On to this months challenge:

https://twofercardchallenge.blogspot.com/2019/08/twofer-card-challenge-19.html

Just click on the graphic above to be taken to the challenge page.

Since this is a challenge requiring two different card designs for two different occasions I start with selecting my stamps first (but you can use stamps, dies or stencils for your images).  Then I think about the design.  Making sketches really helps in the design process and assures you have two different designs.

My cards feature the stamp set Sailing from SSS.  My common stamp is the ocean waves.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope to see you in the August Twofer Gallery.

Cat, these are so fun! I love the ocean waves, they are a really neat design. Both cards are very different, but look like they could be part of a set, too. Great job!

darling cards, Cat - don't have anything "nautical" in my stash so will really have to think hard to enter this month!

I love the way you used your waves on these Twofer nautical designs, Cat! The small panel with the life-preserver in the upper corner and that great wavy e/f is such fun! And your pretty little Cape Cod sailboat bobbing along all by his lonesome is perfect for the missing you sediment!! (Glad you're no longer nervous! You're an awesome addition to the Team!) Hugs, Darnell

Congrats on the DT spot - you nailed the twofer inspiration post. Heidi, in the first comment her, was so right about this being part of a set of cards, common denominator being the waves. I'd love a set like that and I'm sure your friends would too.

The waves embossing on your first card really brought out the panel too.

The white on white wavy background on your appreciation card adds even more movement to your little rolling ocean panel, Cat ... love that tiny pop of red on the lifesaver! You captured the sense of the sentiment brilliantly on your second card, with that cute little sailboat bobbing about in the middle of the wide expanse of ocean ... a perfect scene to express missing someone! I'm thinking we were both on a similar page with our respective sketches this month ... great minds! Hugs, Anita :)

Two wonderful cards, love how you highlighted the waves for the main optical in "lifesaver" card. Also awesome? That lonely boat out on the big waves really gets the "miss you"!!!

The Ocean Waves stamp in this set is one of my all-time faves and I love how you used it on both cards, Cat! I also love how you kept your designs CAS, too...really cute nautical cards!

Wonderful clean and crisp cards and the wave stamp is fabulous. Love the sentiment and design on your lifesaver card and love the loneliness of the lone sailboat for the miss you card x.

Two adorable cards, Cat... I have that set, and think it is timeless, and so cute! Now, what I don't have... is that a new embossing folder I spy with my little eye?

Two fantastic cards, Cat! I love seeing your design drawings come to life! Those waves are so cool and your stamping is perfect! Your sentiments really fit both cards - obviously with the life preserver, but also that lonely boat on the high seas. I'm so glad you're feeling comfortable on the team, you are a natural!

I thought I'd commented... anyhooo, I love these cards! They look like a perfect Twofer to me. I'll need to ransack my stash for nautical stamps as I'm not sure I have any. Must come from living in landlocked Birmingham - we're in the middle of the country and about as far from the sea as it's possible to be here in the UK, Jo x

I like that you sketched it out like you did. I often start with a sketch and go from there. Your cards are beautiful!!

LOVE both of these nautical cards for the Twofer Challenge, Cat!
TFS your technique of sketching out the designs also.

I was in the same boat as you (pun intended), being all nervous about my cards as GD for this challenge. You nailed it! (IG natshobbycorner)

I love the waves on both cards, and especially the embossed waves in addition to the stamped waves on the first card. The little sailboat with the striped sails looks so lonely out in that big ocean, so the sentiment is just perfect! Great little Twofer here!

So glad you posted your sketches, Cat. They really are a great "how-to" illustration! And your cards are fabulous. LOVE the little life preserver hanging off the corner of your focal panel. That's a simple and brilliant idea. Great idea, too, to cover the card front in white-on-white waves too. Love this! And your sweet little square card is delightful. The little boat floating on the waves, well, it floats my boat too! Don't worry about Twofer...you've nailed it. So glad you're part of the team!! xo Bev

Gorgeous cards Cat that really appeal to my CAS soul! I love your details - the life saver on the corner of your stamp frame and the wave embossed card front on the first; the perfect sentiment on the second and the bold sails :)
