Layering Leaves

Hello~

I have two cards for three challenges today.  I am using sentiments from MFT and a leaf die from Concord and 9th.  I started by putting down distress oxide inks in Candied Apple, Peeled Paint, Wild Honey and Spiced Marmalade on to a sheet of Neenah solar white.

After cutting several leaves, I prepared two card panels, one squared sized with a pierced background from Altenew. Then I made a 7 petaled flower by arranged 4 1/2 leaves with their points in the center of a circle. I added a white heat embossed sentiment over the flower.

For the second card I sponged some Candied Apple in a banner across the card front. I added score lines above and below it. I adhered three of the lighter multi-colored leaves over the inked portion.
A small sentiment was heat embossed over the inked panel.

These cards were inspired by three challenges - Twofer Challenge - Leaves;  City Crafter Challenge - Autumn Colors; and a sketch challenge from AAA Cards.

Under the sea at City Crafter Challenge

Hi there~

I have three cards for you today, and I am submitting one to City Crafter Challenge blog. The theme is under the sea.

I recently acquired the Avery Elle stamp set Sea-prise!  I had fun coloring this sweet birthday shark as stamped. I used my laptop and printer to make the sentiment. (use a word processing program to write out your sentiment - highlight it in black and change the font color to white before printing. the size of your font determines the width of the highlight)

I wasn't done playing with him, this time I went darker and took away the party hat. I added some clouds as well.  This one I am submitting to City Crafters, its not quite cutesy and not nearly as sinister as the next one.

Lastly, I went completely off book and hand drew my shark taking the Jaws movie poster as my inspiration up to a point. I drew a rounded rectangle with no bottom and two hill shapes for the mouth. Back to triangles for the teeth, and circles for the eyes. He was colored gray and then inked over with mermaid lagoon distress ink. I added water droplets several times to the teeth and blotted it with a paper towel to get up some of the blue inking. I wanted the teeth to stand out a bit.

Isn't it amazing how turning the shape of the mouth upside down changes it from something cute to something much more sinister?

Thanks for stopping by.

Trees

Hi There

I had made a resolution of sorts to keep up with my Christmas cards and make 5 per month.  I fell off that resolution wagon in May.  I am behind by 20 cards.  Fortunately there are several challenges  running right now that inspired me.

I've die cut my front panel with two SSS dies, Stitched shapes and birchtree window.  I mounted that panel on a piece of MFT cornflower glitter cardstock.  I added a bit under my sentiment (Stampin Up) strip.  A few tiny 2mm pretty pink posh sequins were added to finish it off.  This was a fairly quick card to make and I will likely make at least 4 more for the stash.

I'm entering this card to the following challenges.

Addicted to Stamps - Holiday
CAS Christmas Card - Trees
Always Fun Challenges -Let it sparkle

Happy Birthday

Hi there!

It's the start of the May birthdays.  This one goes to my bestie. She and I may live on opposite sides of the country, but we are still quite close despite my move.  She loves pink.  Happy Birthday Evelyn!

The flowers and leaves are from Altenew. The Sentiment is from Stampin Up. The cover-plate die is from Lawn Fawn.

I am not a good flower arranger, but the first time I saw these dies in use was at my bloggy friend Lin's blog.  I used her arrangement as a start...I may have moved or added a few pieces around, but it is thanks to her skills that this looks like a good bouquet.

I added wink of stella to the second lightest color on all the flowers, along with a bit of pink glitter tape under the sentiment strip to finish this off.  With that cover-plate die panel, I didn't think any additional embellishment was needed.

I found it easiest to pull out the layering guide, and then cut each of the dies from the shade needed for a particular layer in one pass through my vagabond. So basically each shade of paper was run through once with 4-5 dies on it. That cut down on the number of times I had to cut. Each flower has 4 layers.

I am entering this to:
Seize the Birthday - Anything goes.

City Crafter 406

Hi there,

There is a gorgeous blue flower card over tat City Crafter 406, and I made me want to grab my Copic's and color.  So I did.  I still had some extras on my desk from other cards - I often cut multiples of dies just in case I mess one up I'll have another handy.

Here is the inspiration photo:

Its a beautiful arrangement of roses and other delicious layers.  My current style of cardmaking is more towards the clean and simple, but on occaision I do enjoy the layers.

Here is my take on Samra's lovely card:

The die is from PTI, the flowers and sentiment are from Avery Elle.

Some more Magnolia

Hi there,

After my earlier card I returned my books to the library - I love the feel of a hard-backed book. I've gotten over the need to own them -- I simply don't have the room to store them.

Of course I left my craft desk a mess, so before cleaning up, I stamped and heat embossed a few more of those Altenew Magnolias.  I am hoarding my bristol paper since I have a long month to go before I can buy any more crafty supplies.  I found a pad of Artist's Loft mixed media paper and used that.  The Zig markers worked pretty well on that paper. I colored the marker on and blended with a water brush after heat embossing the image.

I made 4 cards and they'll do for 4 different challenges.  So lots of photos to come.

For Less is More - Dry Embossing I made this card:

For Addicted to Stamps and More Anything Goes, I am submitting this card:

For Inspired by all the Little Things I am submitting this card:  I was inspired by the pink flowers and the touches of aqua/blue in the inspiration photo.

For the City Crafter Challenge Blog - Die Cuts, I am submitting this version:

One birthday card visiting 4 challenges

Hi there!

How do you all pick your challenges to play in...well other than those on design teams...but which ones voluntarily?  I follow about 168 blogs and most mornings post breakfast, I scroll through my bloglovin feed and save to my tool bar the ones I think I might want to play in along with the due date in the title of the bookmark.

Today I was looking at my saves, deleting a few since I was past the deadline and I found 4 that would work well together and here goes:

City Crafter Challenge is Balloons,  Freshly Made sketches has a darling one by Jen,  Color Throwdown's colors are Aqua, Orange and Gray and perfect for some papers in my stash, and Shopping our Stash has Birthday as the theme.  Icons for each of the challenges are below.

Here is my card:

Its simple, and with the multi colored balloons festive and its going in the mail tomorrow!
