Challenge Organization

Hi Everyone-

I'm trying to play in challenges more consistently and to stop missing deadlines.  I used to save the challenge links in a tool bar on my browser. I had to change the title of the link to get in the due date and sometimes I was just to lazy to do that.  As a result I missed challenge deadlines.

In December I tried a slightly different approach.  I added sub-folders to my toolbar Challenge folder.  Each of the sub folders corresponds to a date in any given month.  As I find challenges I am likely to want to play in, I drag that challenge and drop it into the appropriate date challenge.

As I sit down to create, I just open the next closest challenge due date and with one click can open tabs for each challenge on my browser. (I use mozilla's firefox - and the option to open all is at the bottom of the list.  In Edge, a right click will give the option to open all.)  I have a few links at the top for challenges that don't really work in my date folders.  I also have a "played" folder where I move the completed challenges to.  Just incase I miss seeing the results on a busy day/week. I can go back and check on them.

Here is what it looks like for the next batch of cards; the are all due after the 18th and before the 24th:

I am loving this new approach.  How do you decide which challenges to play in or organize your DT duties?

Thanks for stopping.

Wow, Cat you put a lot of work into this :) I have a list I keep for myself by challenge days of the week and a separate section with monthly challenges. I've done this for a long time. As I see new challenges I'm interested in I add them to my list. There is a blog that lists most challenges and I look at this too some of the time, here's the link: http://challengesfordays.blogspot.com/

This is a brilliant idea Cat. I have struggled with this too, in fact I sometimes pull back from entering challenges as I get myself in a stress about it and then think, that's not the point so just leave it for a while. I am always making cards though. I think I will try a variation of your idea and see if I can make it work for me. thanks for sharing xx

Hi Cat ~
Thank you so much for sharing your new way to organize upcoming challenge deadlines...I think I'm going to do this, too. I miss deadlines all the time, and it's so frustrating :)

You're way too organized for me--haha! I generally just have one challenge in mind & then see if it fits anything else. Once that's done I look for another. Yep--a lot of deadlines get missed, but there's always another one!

Sounds as though this is working really well, Cat ... it's a great idea. I use Feedly in a similar way, though it's not in date order ... my planner gets that job! Hugs, Anita :)
