Twofer Card Challenge 18

Hi there,

I am so excited to be joining the Design Team at Twofer Card Challenges.  Thank you to Darnell and the talented team for the opportunity.

This is one of my favorite challenges because I have to THINK before I start working on my two cards to make sure they are two different designs. That's the basic concept of Twofer.

Anyone who's visited my blog probably has seen that my go to card design is a flower or image in the lower right corner, CAS style more often than not and maybe a little inking around the image.  I know this because I had a discussion with my pal Peggy about design.  She told me she loved all the different cards I made...and I had to laugh...I told her to look again...just because I had different images or sentiments the great majority were THE SAME DESIGN. That is my comfort zone and I like that Twofer makes me step out of my comfort zone.

The Twofer Card Challenge asks us to make two DIFFERENT DESIGN cards for DIFFERENT occasions from the same stamps, die or stencil.

So on to this months prompt, it is GARDEN. You can click on the badge below and be taken to the challenge.

https://twofercardchallenge.blogspot.com/2019/07/twofer-card-challenge-18.html

As I sat down to design my cards,  I first selected my stamp set. Then I thought about how I could use the images and which image/s would work for  both cards keeping with the garden theme. After narrowing that down, I drew a few sketches to make sure I was creating different designs.

Can you see how the designs differ from one another?  The occasions (not just the actual sentiment) must differ as well. There is a handy list of occasions on the right sidebar of the Twofer Blog.

Satisfied they were different designs, I set about making the cards and came up with these two.

I used Lawn Fawn's Gleeful Garden stamp set.  My common stamps are the little grass and the snail. I colored everything very simply.   The veggie garden card is a hello to my Dad, since to me it has a masculine vibe.  The second card is going to a friend fresh out of knee surgery.

If you have any questions about these designs or any of my past designs for the Twofer Challenge, please feel free to ask me.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you in the Twofer Gallery.  While you're there stop and visit our two guest designers this month Robyn of Waterlily Cards and Kathy of My Aspirations.

Well congratulations on becoming a member of the twofer design team, that is a very special assignment and your first 2 cards are a triumph in my book. They are both great, you can't beat daisies to create cheer and the little sprouting veggies are what every gardener wants to see, although I am sure they will be seeing off that snail! I really like how you have blended the sky and the earth and created a window. The textured background just enhances the window effect. 2 great cards, lots of lovely little details and yet still your wonderful CAS style. xx

Congratulations on your new design team! I love both your cards, and also your great explanation of the challenge. This is one that I often mean to enter in, but run out of time. Nothing comes to mine right now for the garden theme but I will keep thinking.

What a wonderful first post and cards, Cat! I love how you described your process. We are so pleased to have you join the Design Team with your wonderful eye for design and composition! Not to mention your creativity! I never would have thought to use the grass from your field of daisies as new plants coming up from the soil on your hello card for your Dad! Genius! And that snail ... what a cutie-patootie! Your Dad will love him peeking through the aperture. (I may need to have a snail prompt one day!) Love the blending, coloring, and scoring you did on each of your CAS cards! Hugs, Darnell

Glad to have you on the DT with us! It does make us all think before we create, and I love that -- getting more mileage out of our stamps is always a bonus! Great group of ladies here! LOVE your garden cards. Those images are darling and delightful, and I just know your dad and your friend will love these cards. Love the mushrooms and snail and daisies and...well ok, I love everything about these cards! This is gonna be fun!!! xo Bev

Cat, it is so exciting to have you on the team! Your two cards are both wonderful! I love the little snail in the garden, making sure everything is growing just right. Your row of flowers is so cheerful, and a perfect way to wish a speedy recovery by slowing down the pace.

Very fun cards, distinctly different! And I have to admit... I didn't see that your cards are the same design, it must be that you have us so distracted with the pretty cards!

Many congratulations on joining the DT Cat x. What fabulous cards both with 'different' designs and both super cute x. I too often sketch out designs before I start as this helps me too x. Fabulous inspiration for the garden theme and thank you x.

So happy to be designing alongside you at Twofer, Cat! What a brilliant debut ... and a great post! I too use sketches in my planning ... and find it helps so much in creating different designs. Your daisy garden is an absolute delight, fresh, fun and so happy with that adorable little snail! Love how you created the earth in your veggie garden ... looks as though those green shoots have only just sprouted ... must be why the little snail is on his way! Hugs, Anita :)

Oh, Cat, it's so nice to have you on the team! Sorry I'm late to stop in. We just returned from a week away and I'm starting the catch up process this morning. You've made two wonderful Twofers. So cute and I love how you explained your process. It's illuminating, enlightening, and inspiring! I look forward to many Twofers together!

I LOVE to see the process of other card designers. I often do sketches too of how I am going to use stamps-which is whey I often do sketch challenges. LOVE your pretty cards. The little sprouts you created on the first card. The happy flowers on the second with the snail and the mushrooms is darling on the second card!!! Congratulations on the DT!!!
