Quickie

Hi!
Today I needed to quickly send out a get well card.  I had no mojo at all for card making because I've been cleaning most of the day.
So I took pretty patterned paper, stamped on a sentiment and added some paper flowers. I think it will be well received.  Have a great day!

90 Minute Scramble

Yesterday my best bud scrapping pal and I went to the local scrapbook expo in the morning then attended a crop at our local scrapbook store...well as local as it gets these days.  We are both about 40 miles away.  I always check out the clearance section. I found 3 Hero Arts stamps/sets that I didn't have.  All were 50% off so I grabbed them quickly. It was a long but fun day.

Today was another 90 minute scramble at the Hero Arts Flickr group.  I love these challenges.  It's hectic and I don't over-think my card.  The theme of the scramble was Black card background.  All of my new stamps would work with this theme, so they got inked up.  My first card is for my best friend of almost 40 years.  Her favorite color is pink...I love pink and black together.

The background was stamped and heat embossed with pink powder, matted on pink a pink card base. I then took a shadow stamp and inked it up with black (boy do I wish I had not left my Hero Arts Shadow Inks in Maryland !) ink and stamped it on pink card stock. I added pearls which I colored with Copic markers to the flower centers. The image was cut leaving some pink showing so it appears matted; then it was attached with foam squares. I think its a super sweet card and she will love it.

My next card...yes I got two done in the 90, minutes was fun and happy.

Flowers (again HA) were stamped using Hero Arts neon inks onto white paper, fussy cut (ugh) and attached to a black card base. I found some sparkly dots in fairly close colors and put them into the flower centers.  I wanted to get the sentiment to be a neon shade too...but so hard with a black card base.  So I used some bright green pp, and stamped in black. I though the sentiment fitting for the silly happy flowers.  Thanks for making it through this wordy post.  Have a great weekend.

You Did It!

My Godson just passed his driving test and is a licensed driver now.  He's a great young man; since he is half a foot taller than I am referring to him as a good "kid" no longer works.  So I made him a card, I'll put a little surprise in it for his new expenses.

Cards for the males in my life are always a struggle...I like flowers and girly things.

But, I think this works.

Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for stopping by.

Use Dies or Punches

A quick post today. I made this card for the Simon Says Stamp challenge to use dies or punches. I am also entering it in the Hero Arts October contest.

I used the Hero Arts / Sizzix die and stamp set Snowman.  I used the tiny label and a small snow flake from the same set.

I stamped on the same color paper as my card base in versa mark, heat embossed with Ranger embossing tinsel in snowflake.  I die cut and popped up 5 of the snowflakes with foam dots, as well as the sentiment.  Some twine to add a bit more color.  I love the whimsy of this card.  Thanks for coming by.

Tic Tack Toe at Shopping Our Stash

Hi Everyone, I am back in California after having been in Maryland with hubs for the last 10 wonderful weeks.  California is a great place for me to shop my "stash" as most of my card-making items are here.

I am again playing along with the Shopping our Stash challenge.  This week it is a tic-tac-toe challenge.

I chose to go with the far right column, embossing, flower, yellow.  I had a get well card to make and I think yellow is a happy color and will brighten the day of someone on the mend.

I dry embossed the yellow panel, heat embossed both stamps, and colored with Copic markers.  I am including a shot of the interior as well. I used to neglect the interiors, but am trying to pay more attention to them now.  Thanks for stopping by!

White Out

Happy World Cardmaking Day
It's my last day here in Maryland for a while. Heading to California for a couple of months. So instead of packing...which I detest...I decided to make some cards.  A Blog Named Hero is having a WHITE OUT challenge, only white paper can be used, no colored or patterned paper.

Two birthday cards were made, using only white cardstock, some ink, stamps, magic tape, glitter and embossing powder. Two very different cards.

Challenge Entry
This card is a with panel on a white linen textured square card base.  The stamps are stamped with brilliance ink and clear embossed.  The black lines are actually glitter applied to double sided tape. It really sparkles in person.

just for fun
My next card is much less WHITE.  I stamped the envelope pattern twice once in brown the second time in butter bar. It is edged with an alcohol marker, close inspection shows the ink stamp through the marker. I kinda like that effect.  A couple more elements added to actually make it a birthday card, and its done.

Time to clean up my stamps, and get to the packing...which did I mention I detest?  Not looking forward to saying good bye to hubs for 66 long days either! :-(

Thanks for coming by.

10 Minute Craft Dash #4

I decided to start playing in some more challenges. Next up-- Pretty Pink Posh's 10 Minute Craft Dash. Sounds intimidating doesn't it?  Well they kindly let you pull out your supplies before you hit that timer button. I think that is to soften the blow of the reality of 10 short minutes. I got sucked in.
The color prompt for this challenge is red, blue, beige/kraft.

So I pulled out some paper in the blue and beige colors, some red washi tape...I am washi tape impaired, so I am forcing myself to try to get used to using it. Tools include a punch, some stamps, tape runner, foam dots, some ink, a pre-folded cardbase, a red marker and my ipad for the timer.  Ready, Set, (take a couple of pics) GO!

Here is a collage of my start, my laid out tools and supplies...I should have put them in a pile on the side...wasted some time moving it out of my workspace.

I stamped, punched, punched, punched, and punched--- cut, glued, colored, stamped again, cut again, glued, screached a bit but I did beat the 10 minute timer! :-)

Thanks for stopping by.

Supplies:
Clear Stamps - Magazine freebies
Washi Tape in red from Target
Fiskars Edge punch
Mememto Tuxedo Black Ink Pad
Blue Creamy Card from DCWV
Beige Paper from JoAnn
Letraset Aqua Marker
Foam Dots
Tape Runner

Mojo Monday

I made this card for the Mojo Monday 261 Contest. Check it out and play along. This sketch is provided as the contest inspiration.

I'll  be leaving for California on Saturday, so this one is a great card for me to leave for hubs to find once I have gone.  I like to leave him cards to find during the first few days of our separations.  Especially since it takes the post office about 4 days to get a card across the country.

I had to free hand draw/cut the larger circle, none of my dies were big enough. Spellbinders were used for the smaller circles. Spectrum Noir markers were used to color the mailbox. London Fog Memento Ink was used to shade the interior. The tumbling letters are popped up with dimensional foam dots. The card blank was dry embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder.

Thanks for stopping by.

Flowers

Hi, today I pulled out a stamp that I have only used once before. I first used it in a Hero Arts scramble and when I took it out again to use today, I also pulled out the same background stamp. I think these two will often go hand in hand on a card.

My first card made about 4 months ago. I added stickles to some of the blossoms, and a glittery dot to the middles. I love the lattice background as a frame for this stamp.

My second card, has the stamped image, with liquid pearls in the centers and some glossy accents on the open petals. The borders are drawn on with a Spectrum Marker. Other supplies include Hero Arts mid tone ink in Butterbar (Love love love), MS Pearls, Simon Says Stamp sentiment,(but just the first line.)  The mid tone ink is so perfect for these shadow stamps. It dries with perfect coverage.

I especially like the effect of the lattice stamp coming through on the outer edges. The lattice stamp was stamped with distress ink. I did not realize it would act as a resist to the alcohol markers.  Good to know...

Thanks for stopping,

Birthday Cards-Male

Hubs birthday was this past weekend, and now I can post some of the cards I made for him.  Yes---I am one of those people who will give multiple birthday cards.

I find  masculine cards so hard to make, because I love bright colors and flowers and hearts and girlie things.

Here is card #1 for hubs. Its a little girly, but the strong colors are manly! I love that Happy Birthday sentiment from Stampin' Up. (this one is my favorite)

Card #2 is more manly in color and composition

Card #3 is the perfect card for hubs, he is never without his Converse Chuck Taylor tennis shoes, also known as the "Chucks".  I asked him the other night, which of the several cards was his favorite...they were not in sight, and he said the CHUCKS...it definitely made an impression.  I found that paper in Las Vegas in June and it has traveled to California, Ohio, and Maryland in preparation of the Birthday card.  The interior has several fussy cut shoes in the corners.

Thanks for stopping.
