Happy Anniversary

I needed an anniversary card, and Newton's Nook has another inky paws challenge.  I used their watercolor prompt as inspiration, and am entering this card to the challenge. The challenge is open until Friday, April 10th, 2015 at Midnight CST.

Inky Paws Challenge #19 - Watercolor

Basket of Wishes and Simply Sentimental are the two Newton's stamp sets used to make this adorable 4bar card.  I first heat embossed in gold, then water colored the images.    A bit of clear glitter atop the glasses, and some very small sequins as well provide the embellishments.

I also had an ah-ha moment.  Versamark ink is very sticky and I first stamped my "anniversary" sentiment portion above the flourish...and it was badly stamped by me.  I brushed off the embossing powder and found a new position for the sentiment below.  Once the card was done (I spent time embossing and water coloring....I wasn't tossing it out!)  I found that I could erase with a white eraser the versamark residue on the paper.  YEA! I did not know that was possible previously.  I don't know if it works as well on colored cardstock...but it does on white.

Mojo Monday 375

I haven't played at Mojo Monday for a while, I always save the challenge, but then the week is gone before I get to making a card.  This week I made a point of playing.  I really liked the sketch provided.

I got out a new stencil that I have had for a bit, but haven't dirtied up at all.  I started with Hero Arts silver ink. After it dried I adjusted the Zig Zag Dot Stencil from SSS to the uninked spaces and filled them with embossing paste and Distress Glitter in rock candy.  I then set the panel aside to dry.

I grabbed a piece of patterned paper that I have been hoarding for at least 4 years and I CUT it!  (I DO by American Crafts)

Next I pulled out several dies, the heart from Lawn Fawn's Stitched Party Banners, the small Love from SSS, and pierced rectangles from MFT.  I cut a matching heart out of the left over of the strip I cut for the side using the same patterned side.  I cut the love 3 times from the back side of the patterned paper, and then I cut my center panel from the embossed and inked piece.  Everything was glued in place with the sketch layout in mind.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Happy Anniversary!

Hubs and I are celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary.  I usually give hubs more than one card. We also give each other a letter we have written reflecting on the last year. I have to say, Hubs usually ROCKS the letter, so I do look forward to them.

Two of my cards will have a sweet sentiment, the third will house my letter.  I made the sentiment for the watercolor card using my Silhouette Portrait, and the second card has another sentiment from the Silhouette library. The third card features die cuts from Paper Smooches, Sentiment from Hero Arts and a Tim Holtz key.

A bit of cake...

My In-Laws celebrated their wedding anniversary recently.  Hubs and I were heading to bed after a day of packing and getting ready for our trip to California to spend the holidays with my Dad.  I woke up in a panic about 30 minutes after heading to bed...I had forgotten to make the anniversary card.  I got up a bit earlier and headed to my craft room to put this together.  It is a simple white embossed card on a golden card base.  The upper corners were rounded to mimic the cake edges.  I love this stamp set from Avery Elle.  Have a wonderful day, thanks for stopping by.
