Star of Light

Finally all my fall commitments are done, and I have several weeks at home. I can dig in and craft my Christmas cards.  The fall / Thanksgiving cards are done...I send only a few of those out. Thanksgiving cards to the family and fall cards for blogging friends.

 This card is for two challenges.  The design comes from Case this Sketch, and the theme comes from Addicted to Stamps and More: Holiday.

My supplies were simple, clear  and silver embossing powders, Hero Arts Silver ink, Distress Ink in Chipped Sapphire, Versamark, the stamp set from Stampin Up called Star of Light, and a bit of masking paper and the misti to stamp versamark over the colored inks so the embossing powder would stick well.

Winter Cards with Betty

During September Betty sent me a packet of wonderful fall themes goodies and a challenge to make two cards. You can see those cards in this post and this one.

I then sent her a package of winter themed goodies and gave her a challenge to make two cards.  I also made two cards from mostly the same items.  I might have added another die cut or two, but the color scheme is the same.  I asked Betty to feel free to supplement from her own stash.

Merry Christmas

I have a card for two challenges for you.  It is a VERY simple card, but it makes me smile. I love how well the bird fits, joining the two words; almost as if it were designed that way! :-)

The challenge at Merry Monday is to use a bird, and the challenge at Just Us Girls is to make the sentiment shine.  I think this card fits well for both challenges.  Sentiment is from Close to My Heart, bird is from Paper Smooches Feathered Friends. The sentiment is heat embossed and the bird is copic colored.

One of my bloggie friends Lucille, is Guest Designing over at Muse, so I had to play along.

 All I saw was the doughnut...I might have been hungry.  As a kid I loved those cake donuts with the fake cherry icing and sprinkles...well when I was a kid the frosting was CHERRY flavored...now its just pink sugar.

I have one stamp set with a doughnut, and I decided on a pile of them (maybe I am still a bit hungry?).

After ages and ages I finally played in another Hero Arts Scramble...90 minutes to get the theme, make a card, photograph it and upload it to the challenge page in Flickr.

Last of the Halloween Cards

Here is the last of the Halloween cards.  I bought this stamp over the summer, and almost forgot to use it.  I think the images are darling, and needed to make sure to get at least one inking in this season.

I used Copic coloring, and a bit of glossy accents on the cat's mask and the dog's nose.

Happy Halloween

The moment I saw this stamp set from Close to my Heart, I knew I had to have it.  While it's set up for Halloween, it can be used for lots of occasions.


I started this card at the crafty birthday party I attended in September.  It was the first time I truly came to appreciate my misti.  If you don't have one yet, and are debating between the card size and the original size...get the original.  I have them both and I only use the card size when I travel.

I stamped and clear embossed a spider's web on the black card base, then I layered the image panel onto it. I used colored pencils and a bit of gamsol to blend.

This card is the perfect example of why I think the original misti is more useful.  The Cat image had to be stamped in stages.  Using the misti in landscape orientation, I was able to stamp the hat, mask it move it to the left for the cat body and sentiment stamping while on the right side I was stamping the next hat. I made 30 of these so the assembly line really made it go fast.

 

 

I decided to stamp the eyes with a block, just to give each one a bit of a different expression.

Hi there...are all you northern hemisphere dwellers enjoying some cooler fall weather? I am loving the bite of fall in the air.

 Today's card is for the challenge over at Inspired by All the Little Things.

I love the browns with just a touch of color.  For my card the main panel is watercolor paper white embossed with some leaf shapes from A Muse Studio.  I spritzed the paper with water then sprinkled on some brown brusho's in the open area of the panel.  I tilted and spun the card to get coverage all over, but not within the leaves.   Lastly, I wet the leaves lightly, and sprinkle more of the brown brusho powder into the leaf areas, I did not brush them out or add more water. I wanted the intense colors of the power pigments showing all the different shades.

I mounted it onto some textured tissue paper on a card base and added the thanks die cut (I think its from SSS).

trick or treat

I am back home in Maryland. It was a difficult summer for me. I had erratic sleeping patterns, the humidity kicked my butt; I was miserable, out of sorts and lacking mojo for much of  August and September. I managed to make cards to post while I was visiting my Dad in California during October but few of them made me smile.

I think that I have finally gotten a good sleeping pattern, I have been home for 5 days and have been in bed by midnight and up by 8 each morning without an alarm.  I am feeling much more productive, and the weather is beginning to cool with far less humidity than a month ago.  I am feeling so much better.  Last night I sat down to color some cards and enjoyed the process. YEA!

Now, I know I said those crazy cat stamps kinda creeped me out...but when I saw Sandy Allnock's post combining them with the crazy dogs...well I had to get them.  They are perfect for Halloween.

Some Birthday Cats

One of the crafty ladies and our niece share the same birthday.  Both ladies are cat lovers, so I had fun making a couple of cat cards.  I was running a bit late with my planning this month...my mojo went into early hibernation in September.  So, I figured cat cards would suit the recipients, and heck...I love the furry felines.

 Our neice will love this, her cat is a ginger tabby. He is a love bug!

My friend Candy has a couple of cats, so I think she will appreciate this one.


Cookie our neighbor cat was visting...I don't want to know what she found so interesting under that entertainment cabinet; but I had to laugh as she worked to get out from where she wriggled her way in.
