Acetate and Glitter

I love this technique...it doesn't show the fabulous-ness well in photographs but in person its nice and sparkly. I placed a vinyl sticker on acetate, then on the backside I filled in the various spaces with quickie glue pen then dumped super fine glitter in the area.  I repeated this until I had my image filled as I desired with various glitter colors. I let it dry and used heavy glue dots behind the glittered areas to attach it to my colored card layer.

Wow, A year

It has been 1 year since my first blog post, and it has flown by. I will be having a little give-a-way for readers who leave comments once I return to Maryland late October.  

My hands are full with moving projects while here in California.  I am sneaking in some crafting here and there as reward for sorting and purging the stuff I have accumulated the last 30 years.  

The card I am sharing today is going to Hubs, he is very supportive and takes an active interest in my card-making.  (Love you darlin')  Blue is my only concession to this being a guy card...and well the inside sentiment too!

Something different

Since I have been in California, I met up with my friend and scrapbook pal for  scrapbooking at the one scrapbook/stamp store that is just about equidistant from each of our houses. We made a day of it, meeting for breakfast first, then on to our crafting time. 

Hubs is so good about making sure that I have fresh flowers in the house often.  This double page spread is a sampling of the bouquets he's brought home over the last few months.

Blue Birthday

A friend of mine was having a birthday, and of course a card was needed. 

I stamped and clear embossed the image. Then, decided to frame part of the image with an embossed paper layer. I think the embossing folder and the Hero Arts Stamp complimented each other nicely.

Scrambling with Washi

Saturday I participated again in another 90 minute scramble at the Hero Arts Flickr group. Our challenge was to incorporate washi tape in our project.  I am flat out uncomfortable with washi tape. I love the look on cards. When I try to do artsy things with it and lay strips down and it just looks like a disaster.  I had one roll of blue lined washi tape here in California.   Here is my card:

Team Colors

I have neglected my blog for two weeks. I am in California house sitting for my Dad for several weeks. It has been a whirlwind so far, and I hadn't realized how much of my card making supplies have been moved to Maryland in the last year.  I brought a few things with me, but some of my inks seem to have dried out. BOO!   Never-the-less, I do have some projects to share this week.  

On 8-29-13 I participated in a Hero Arts Scramble, the scramble challenge was to make a masculine card using colors of a favorite sports team.  Hubs is a fan of both the Cleveland Browns and the Baltimore Ravens. I decided the orange and brown of Cleveland definitely would make a better masculine card than the purple black and gold of the Ravens.

It took me almost the full 90 minutes to make this card, photograph it and upload it.  I felt completely out of my element here in California.

Day to Celebrate

My wonderful FIL is having a birthday. Hubs and I put together a  package of his favorite TV munchies. I nestled the goodies in crinkle paper then sprinkled some Happy Birthday confetti around and lastly placing this card on top. I used a big brown striped bow to close the clear gift bag. Then it was boxed and sent off for mailing.  Happy  Birthday Dad!

Cobb Island

Late June Hubs and I went on a day trip. We often do this, drive somewhere unknown and find a lunch spot eat and walk about a bit. It doesn't take much to entertain me.  I have wonderful pictures I will be putting in my scrapbook.

This trip also gave me inspiration for a set of note cards.  The island is/was full of lush huge hydrangea bushes.  The colors varied from a deep raspberry, to pink, to lavender, and the most gorgeous teal blue.

I thought I had a good shot of the raspberry colored blooms, but sadly not.  However, look at this lushness:

I have three cards to share with you, one from a Hero Arts Stamp (purple) one from a Penny Black Stamp (pink) and one using a vinyl sticker (blue/teal).

I used metallic gelato's to color this one because the stamp had a lot of details and I felt I could wash the color over the image and not lose the look of the stamp. I like the softly fuzzed look.

I used inktense pencils on this one, trying to get that rich raspberry color I remembered, but it didn't quite make the shade.  It is difficult to tell, but this one was sprayed with Radiant Rain Shimmer Mist in Ice Glaze. It softly shimmers in person.

I used glossy paper under the sticker for this one, and Spectrum Noir markers to color inside the sticker. The centers are liquid pearls. This is by far my favorite of the three. It really brings me back to those lush bushes on Cobb Island, and I love the look of this one. Up close the petals and leaves have a little streaky-ness, and it makes the image look a bit like stained glass.
