Congratulations

There is a new designer over at Muse. This week Jenni provides a lovely layered and softly colored card.

I was inspired by the design,  layers, the soft inking and the diecut image.  I am unexpectedly in need of a new baby card.  Being in my mid 50's without children I have very few instances for baby cards and have no baby images in my stamp stash.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Napping Cats

As soon as I saw this stamp at Newton's Nook, I knew it would be coming to live in my stash.  I actually purchased it within hours of it becoming available. I am sending my Dad a card a week until I visit him and he loves the cat cards.  I mostly try to color them to represent Digger and Jack.

I stamped the stamp twice, colored it and fussy cut both. On the second stamped image, I cut only a portion to vary the look.  I can't send just one cat!  I found some perfect Lawn Fawn paper for the background. I also traced over all the lines with a black marker once it was colored.  It gives such a crisp image.  I love keeping the paws white, and I colored them with a white gel pen when everything else was done.

September is my blog anniversary month, and often the month I visit my Dad during the fall.  I get to see  him and my girlfriends and visit a few of my old stomping grounds. I will pre-post some cards while I am visiting since my card making supplies will be very limited.

Thinking of You

I haven't sent a card to my Dad in a few weeks.  I like sending him cat cards. He has two adorable skamps Digger and Jack.  And those cats dote on my Dad.  When I visit, I am definitely the interloper and the cats will accept cat treats from me, and enjoy play time...but their cuddles are reserved for my Dad.

Newton's Nook has some adorable cat stamps, I have a couple of sets.  They also have a challenge going right now - Inky Paws - Just One Layer Card.  I had to think of my design on this one.

I drew a flag banner onto my kraft card base with a white gel pen.  I stamped the cuddled napping cats, masked them off and then added paw prints in Simon Says Ink white pigment ink to the banner area. I used colored pencils from Artist's Loft to color the kitties, smoothed it with some gamsol and highlighted the ears and noses with pink wink of stella.  I added the sentiment from another Newton's Nook set Basket of Wishes.

What's New Pussycat?

Another late night card making session.  I wanted to get a card in for the Muse Challenge #100, and before it is too late and Monday is here again, I decided to make one tonight...or this morning...if I haven't been to bed yet, it is still night regardless of the technicality of the actual clock and calendar.

Above is our Muse card from Michele Ferguson, in addition to her lovely card, she has used a song as inspiration.

I have decided  to use a song as well...

I took inspiration from Michele's cut out and smaller interior piece for my card.

I cut the tag, then cut out the sentiment bubble on the back side so its pointing in the right direction.  Then I went to my computer and typed out the sentiment. I printed it on printer paper first. I used the tag to assure placement of the sentiment by centering the sentiment in the middle of the opening, then taping down the die cut piece over the open space on top of the printed sentiment. Once this was done I reprinted the sentiment on the same sheet of paper - this time it printed onto the die cut.

I masked off my kitty, and inked up the tag face. Then I colored the kitty with colored pencils and gamsol.
The tag is attached with foam tape, and I placed the sentiment bubble flat on to the card base inside the cutout.

I think this card will brighten up my niece's day in the middle of a cold wet winter.

Thanks a milliion

A few weeks ago I hopped along on the new release blog hop over at Newton's Nook Designs.  Much to my surprise, I was a winner of a great stamp set called Simply Sentimental.  I have two other stamp sets from Newton's Nook, so I thought I would make a card featuring their stamps as a thank-you for the prize. The flower basket comes from the Basket of Wishes set.

I stamped the basket on watercolor paper, and colored with distress markers. Then I added just a touch of wink of stella to the flowers.  The sentiment was stamped and white heat embossed.  Three tiny (2mm) clear/silver sequins were added. I loved the long tail on the sentiment, and decided to "hang" the basket from it using white embroidery thread.

Thanks so much for stopping by and enjoy your weekend.

Set of Roses

I started with one card from these vinyl stickers, and then decided I had to make a card set. Three didn't seem enough, and then I found two more stickers.  All roses have heavy wink of stella coverage and shine so prettily in the sun.

They have been all wrapped up with stamps and a pen and will be gifted shortly.
