Cool as You

Hello---

It sure is feeling like summer all of a sudden around here.  Its warm and humid...ugh.  I'll be thinking that alot this summer.  I do miss the dry heat of the California desert in June.  Once July hits it is just hot doesn't matter if it is dry or not!

I have more than a handful of July birthdays, and here is one for the stash.  It was inspired by Seize the Birthday - All about Summer, Watercooler Wednesday-All about occasions,  and Tic Tac Toe - Summer, Scene, Free (used inking).

I made a one-layer card stamping and coloring directly on my cardbase.  I started out with a large open circle stencil and taped my card to it.  I stamped then masked the penguin, then stamped and masked the tree all while the stencil was in place.  Then I added ink to the interior of the circle while the masks were in place. After removing the masks I colored the images and added a sentiment.

Thanks much for visiting...keep cool!

Very cool penguin, Cat, and who wouldn't want to be under a palm tree right about now?! Just love your one-layer and great job masking & coloring!!

Well, I just popped in and look at this -- a brand new card! It's a cutie, too! And one layer! You did a great job of setting the scene. It's rarely hot where I live. Most people would freeze here, but it's comfortable for us. Summers not usually above 70's.

That is a super cool scene! I love the masking in a circle. Yes, we had a bunch of humid days but also a bunch that were not. I am pretty good with this years weather because spring was so long and cool. I honestly don’t remember a long cool spring in my lifetime.

Those of us who hate the heat need to take a lesson from your darling little dude … just chill!! OH do I love your card!
I woke to a crisp 50 degrees this morning, Cat! The high will only be mid-70's... perfect for me!!

Your card is fabulous Cat! I am going to have to learn how to blend my backgrounds as well as you. I love that the shades of blue vary so well and just like the sea. This is such a great card! So happy to have you with us at Seize the Birthday. Now as for the heat...well Florida here and I hear you about the heat. Our humidity is the deal-breaker for me I already can't wait for winter. Take care.

I couldn't live on the east coast--would never leave the house--haha! This is one fabulous scene, my friend! Super creative & beautifully executed! I didn't understand "free" meant you can choose your own 3rd element, so now maybe I'll make the card I had in mind--thanks for helping me even though you didn't know I needed it!

A very cute card. I love the sun loving penguin. I am quite jealous that he is at the beach and I am not. :). Great job on your one layer card. A lovely scene.

What a sweet scene, Cat ... the oceanside background you created for that cute penguin is so inviting! Just about to go into a week of dry heat here ... can't wait, it's been too cool and wet for me (like March!). Hugs, Anita :)
