We have been having high winds here in Maryland. I watched the very tall trees outside my 2nd floor window sway to and for and am glad the ground is not overly saturated. I've been watching one particular branch that is stuck on another branch. I was sure it is going become an airborne weapon at the next big gust. But today, it is much calmer and the branch is still entangled.
It is a perfect day to make cards and I am very much in the mood to do so, so there may be several posts today.
This post is for two Christmas Card Challenges - Merry Monday and Muse Christmas Visions. I have one card dedicated for each challenge. I am very much on target with my 5 Christmas cards per month goal.
The prompt at Merry Monday is using a poinsettia, and the inspiration at Muse - CV is a lovely inked backdrop with white silhouettes. The challenge graphics for both are below.
Merry Monday's card was inspired by my love of coloring flowers. I mounted the panel on a black base to add drama and formality to the card even with the ink spatters.
The Muse Christmas Visions card was inspired by the inked backdrop and the white silhouettes in the foreground. I used distress oxide inks to color in the backdrop to my oval birch trees. A simple sentiment and some clear sequins complete the card.
Thanks so very much for taking a look!
fantastic cards for those two challenges, Cat - beautifully colored poinsettia and the soft background for your birch trees is so pretty
Cat, your poinsettia is sooooo pretty! What lovely coloring.
The birch tree background is soft and pretty.
I got a lot of cards done yesterday during the storm. I have some things out to color now, but didn’t do it yet. Have a good day!
WOW!! What amazing colouring on that Poinsettia Cat and I love that stunning background behind those Birch trees! Have a great weekend my friend! Love & Hugs. Hazel xx
My Card Attic
Glad you survived the strong winds, Cat! Oh boy do I love both of these cards! Your colored poinsettia is unbelievable & the soft background with the SSS die cut is gorgeous! Thought I'd get a poinsettia card made, but not so far. I've discovered that I'm buried in cardstock! Why in the heck have I bought so much?! This is why my organizing gets sidelined--so overwhelming! Hard to tell I accomplished anything with so much more to go--yuk!
Gorgeous poinsettia, Cat, & I love it mounted on the black card!! So delighted to see your card at MM!!
beautiful poinsettia, lovely card
These are both beautiful! I love that peek of peach at the bottom of your blending - implying a sunrise! So glad you joined us at MCV!
Great take on your Muse card - love the die cut and the overall design
Beautiful, beautiful Poinsettia card...the flower is so striking against the dramatic black card base!! Thanks so much for sharing with us at Merry Monday!! :0)
So pretty, coloring is amazing, and the other cards are so pretty, love it, and thanks for sharing with us at Merry Monday.
Cheers, Leanne DT/MM
Two gorgeous cards ! Your colouring on your poinsettia card is stunning, so much depth and dimension ! Love your gorgeous blended background on your second card. So bold with the Distress Oxide. The white die cuts pop up beautifully over it. Fabulous take on Lindsey's card ! x
Two beauties! Love the ombre sponging on your MCV card! Happy to see your card in our gallery at MCV! Thanks!
Both your cards are beautiful! The colouring of your poinsettia is stunning. And I'm glad I could inspire you to create such a gorgeous second card! ;)
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!! seriously WOW... times 2! ♥♥
The rich colouring on your poinsettia is just gorgeous, Cat ... and what a fabulous, crisp and frosty-looking woodland scene ... I can almost feel the chill! Hugs, Anita :)
