Just For You

I have been organizing...and I found some inks I didn't realize I had.  I again scored a 50% off Hero Arts stamp set at my LSS, when I went scrapbooking with my scrappin pal Friday.  I picked up the stamp set because I liked the leaves...and the price was great. I had several ideas in mind for the set.

My second use, a fall-ish card that I will be sending to my In-Laws.  My MIL is always appreciative of cards, so I love sending them to her.

It is a simple card, one stamp, several inks and an attempt at some masking.  Thanks for stopping by.

With Sympathy

Generally I don't make sympathy cards, I want my cards to be received for happy events not solemn occasions. I made this for a card-making friend of mine, a store bought card just wouldn't have done.

I kept it very simple. I used Hero Arts stamp and shadow ink in Cup o' Joe, the sentiment is from Stampin' Up.

Thanks for stopping by.

October Card Chain Challenge

I joined in on the fun of the October Card Chain Challenge the card prompts were to use at least one of those provided, which included: a color palette, a sketch, themes of Halloween - World Animal Day/Month - Friends.  I chose the color palette (or as close as I could get to Amethyst, Camel and Charcoal) as well as the sketch which I enjoyed.

My card below is on its way or has arrived in Oklahoma.

The charcoal is the very thin border behind the patterned paper. Items used were Hero Arts stamps, Copic Markers, Memento ink, Colorbox ink, Fiskars butterfly punch, and some liquid pearls.

Consider joining the next card chain challenge.  Make a card, send it, and get a card in the mail.  Details can be found here, the call goes out at the beginning of each month.  Next one up will be November.

Thanks for stopping by.

Non-traditional Colors for a Hero Arts Scramble

I was so out of my element for this Hero Arts Flickr group scramble, but I pushed through. This scramble consists of 90 minutes to make your card based on the challenge instructions, photograph it, and upload to the scramble thread before time runs out.

The challenge was to use non-traditional colors for a Holiday / Winter card.  I ended up making two cards, both wildly outside my comfort zone of traditional colors. Both feature neon colors.

The hostess is a big fan of purple, so of course I made one card featuring a shade of purple and neon orange.

The second card was based on my favorite color yellow, with neon colored ornaments.

It was a good challenge and you can see all the cards in the scramble thread here.

I think I still prefer reds, greens, blues, whites and glitter for my holiday cards. Thanks for stopping by.

Both cards used Hero Arts Images with matching dies.  The sentiment is from Stampendous.

Thinking about you around the clock

I've been back in California about 3 weeks...21 long lonely days without hubs.  I am so looking forward to December when we will get together again.  So, I thought I would let hubs know how I was feeling with a quick card.

Hero Arts background and sentiment stamps were used...I am also obsessed with heat embossing which generally goes well for me...but not today.  Oh well!  A simple heartfelt card in our wedding colors.
Thanks for taking a look.

Enjoy the Moments

A friend of mine is retiring at the end of the month, so of course I had to make a card for the occasion.

Two Hero Arts Artitistic Butterflies were stamped and embossed in white. Some fussy cuttting, an embossed Hero Arts sentiment & some Colorbok metal dots a little adhesive, and a cute card.

It might be difficult to see, but the patterned paper has very slim green circles in the pattern which I wanted to pull out with the green butterfly. I wanted the wings to be a bit dimensional, so I cut the inner section to lift them up.

Love how this turned out. Thanks for taking a look!

Wishing you well

I have been working on a big cleaning project, and progress is being maid made. So I rewarded myself with some time in the craft room.  I made this card for my MIL. The stamp set was acquired through a blog comment win of a Simon Says Stamp Gift Card back in August.  I've finally made the time to ink it up. Thank you again Melissa. You can check out her blog Love My Scraps at this link.

The stamp set is Flower Gallery by Penny Black. There are several flower stamps and a thank you sentiment in the set.  I did some coloring with Copic markers, some inking with distress inks, a Hero Arts sentiment and a few pearls, and voila...a card she will love.  Thanks for stopping by.

Thinking of You

I spent most of last week making Halloween cards for family and a few friends. I had so much fun making these cards.

I used some Kiwi Lane Designs templates for the curvy parts, DCWV -Autumn Splendor Stack, Copic markers for coloring, the pumpkins are from Lockhart Stamp Co, the Sentiment is Hero Arts, and the inking is Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

I like happy Halloween images. This card fits the bill perfectly. Thanks for stopping by.

Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge

Hello! Today I tried the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge again.

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFBtkvoTosqKKMeWs_1GQkNYqWazN-NiTxj6Egu23EweJxjT3eazi5HRGWSrW8sKwd2rNj4o77AknJIgDELdkuufxW8NSlHh4Y0Ow1r-IUgjgssPRZs9Q9G6YWhqe1QmMJb1izze7zhyST/s1600/Mojo263Sketch.gif
I really liked the sketch and I need to send hubs a card. I'ts been two weeks and he's run through the cards I hid before leaving. So this should be a happy surprise.

I followed the sketch closely, but not exactly.

I used Hero Arts Stamps, dies, and shadow inks. A couple of felt flowers, and some Martha Stewart Twine. Patterned papers are Pinecone Press. Thanks for taking a look!

OLW 110 Squares

Hi, today I played along with One Layer Wednesday, the theme is Squares. My square is actually white space inside a rectangle.

I taped off the rectangular area, then placed a punch masking tape square to the left side. I misted granite Glimmer Mist by Tattered Angels, Stamped the sentiment with Memento London Fog ink. Then I took my masks away and stamped a small flower.  The flower was colored with Distress Markers in Fired Brick and Barn Door.  I then outlined it with a black Sharpie. Stamps were from the Penny Black set 30-031 Flower Gallery.

I wanted subtle with a color pop...I think I achieved it.

Thanks for stopping and taking a look.

Quickie

Hi!
Today I needed to quickly send out a get well card.  I had no mojo at all for card making because I've been cleaning most of the day.
So I took pretty patterned paper, stamped on a sentiment and added some paper flowers. I think it will be well received.  Have a great day!

90 Minute Scramble

Yesterday my best bud scrapping pal and I went to the local scrapbook expo in the morning then attended a crop at our local scrapbook store...well as local as it gets these days.  We are both about 40 miles away.  I always check out the clearance section. I found 3 Hero Arts stamps/sets that I didn't have.  All were 50% off so I grabbed them quickly. It was a long but fun day.

Today was another 90 minute scramble at the Hero Arts Flickr group.  I love these challenges.  It's hectic and I don't over-think my card.  The theme of the scramble was Black card background.  All of my new stamps would work with this theme, so they got inked up.  My first card is for my best friend of almost 40 years.  Her favorite color is pink...I love pink and black together.

The background was stamped and heat embossed with pink powder, matted on pink a pink card base. I then took a shadow stamp and inked it up with black (boy do I wish I had not left my Hero Arts Shadow Inks in Maryland !) ink and stamped it on pink card stock. I added pearls which I colored with Copic markers to the flower centers. The image was cut leaving some pink showing so it appears matted; then it was attached with foam squares. I think its a super sweet card and she will love it.

My next card...yes I got two done in the 90, minutes was fun and happy.

Flowers (again HA) were stamped using Hero Arts neon inks onto white paper, fussy cut (ugh) and attached to a black card base. I found some sparkly dots in fairly close colors and put them into the flower centers.  I wanted to get the sentiment to be a neon shade too...but so hard with a black card base.  So I used some bright green pp, and stamped in black. I though the sentiment fitting for the silly happy flowers.  Thanks for making it through this wordy post.  Have a great weekend.

You Did It!

My Godson just passed his driving test and is a licensed driver now.  He's a great young man; since he is half a foot taller than I am referring to him as a good "kid" no longer works.  So I made him a card, I'll put a little surprise in it for his new expenses.

Cards for the males in my life are always a struggle...I like flowers and girly things.

But, I think this works.

Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for stopping by.

Use Dies or Punches

A quick post today. I made this card for the Simon Says Stamp challenge to use dies or punches. I am also entering it in the Hero Arts October contest.

I used the Hero Arts / Sizzix die and stamp set Snowman.  I used the tiny label and a small snow flake from the same set.

I stamped on the same color paper as my card base in versa mark, heat embossed with Ranger embossing tinsel in snowflake.  I die cut and popped up 5 of the snowflakes with foam dots, as well as the sentiment.  Some twine to add a bit more color.  I love the whimsy of this card.  Thanks for coming by.

Tic Tack Toe at Shopping Our Stash

Hi Everyone, I am back in California after having been in Maryland with hubs for the last 10 wonderful weeks.  California is a great place for me to shop my "stash" as most of my card-making items are here.

I am again playing along with the Shopping our Stash challenge.  This week it is a tic-tac-toe challenge.

I chose to go with the far right column, embossing, flower, yellow.  I had a get well card to make and I think yellow is a happy color and will brighten the day of someone on the mend.

I dry embossed the yellow panel, heat embossed both stamps, and colored with Copic markers.  I am including a shot of the interior as well. I used to neglect the interiors, but am trying to pay more attention to them now.  Thanks for stopping by!

White Out

Happy World Cardmaking Day
It's my last day here in Maryland for a while. Heading to California for a couple of months. So instead of packing...which I detest...I decided to make some cards.  A Blog Named Hero is having a WHITE OUT challenge, only white paper can be used, no colored or patterned paper.

Two birthday cards were made, using only white cardstock, some ink, stamps, magic tape, glitter and embossing powder. Two very different cards.

Challenge Entry
This card is a with panel on a white linen textured square card base.  The stamps are stamped with brilliance ink and clear embossed.  The black lines are actually glitter applied to double sided tape. It really sparkles in person.

just for fun
My next card is much less WHITE.  I stamped the envelope pattern twice once in brown the second time in butter bar. It is edged with an alcohol marker, close inspection shows the ink stamp through the marker. I kinda like that effect.  A couple more elements added to actually make it a birthday card, and its done.

Time to clean up my stamps, and get to the packing...which did I mention I detest?  Not looking forward to saying good bye to hubs for 66 long days either! :-(

Thanks for coming by.
