More Red White and Blue

Hi Crafters~

I decided to get one more red white and blue card done or maybe two.  I have 26 birthday cards to make through the end of the year and 5 are man cards.  These colors are perfect for man cards.

The challenge at Curtain call is Red white and blue, and at Shopping our Stash, it is Flag day, and at Seize the Birthday its anything goes with the optional topping of red, white and you - I am playing with the topping and adding blue as my "you" so I am combining the challenges for these cards.

Red White and Blue

Hello

I'll be entering this card to several challenges.  AAA Cards has "Words taking Center Charge", Just us Girls has their 400th challenge with the word Celebrate, Curtian Call wants Red, White and Blue, and Less is More wants us to use the colors of our flag.


I've used the letters from a CTMH set that has built in doodles. I left the letters white and colored only the doodles with red and blue markers.

Summer Greetings

I have a Hero Arts stamp that  whenever I flip through my stack and see, I wonder why I haven't used it lately.  Today is the day!  I love this Tall Flowers stamp and this card will work for three challenges.

Supplies: Tall Flowers Stamp (Hero Arts), Majestic Blue (Versafine), Big Bold Season Cutaway (Winne& Walter), Happy Scenes(Stampin Up), Random Gems, Red (Wink of Stella), Clear Embossing powder, White embossing powder. B29 Copic Marker (I never have the right blue paper!)

I am entering this to these challenges:

I have been trying to get the Just Us Girls challenge into my schedule for weeks, maybe even a couple of months.  Now that I am home again for a few weeks at least, I am going to jump in.  This week it is a word challenge - Summer.

  The red white and blue are my inspiration from the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge.

Going Batty

I am trying to get into Halloween mode, after all it is October and I have about 2 weeks to get my cards made and mailed out.  A challenge over at Curtian Call is a great starting point.

Checking my stash of Halloween themed stamps...with a bat is one Lawn Fawn set. The bat is cute and I do like the punny sentiments.  I stamped and colored 3 bats, then fussy cut them.  The card base was dry embossed with SU's Woodland folder.  A memory box fence die was added to my oval frame to confine the area for my bats. Small images are sometimes tough for me to place. I added a trail of A Muse sequins (I love that the packets are 3 shades in the color family). The sentiment was heat embossed prior to the dry embossing. The oval frame is from MFT.

My inspiration was the three bats, the fence and the yellow house.

Curtain Call - Flip Flops

Have you SEEN some of the new embossing folders that are out there?  Wow the effects can be amazing.  I picked up a new one by Spellbinders --called fabric weave...its like crinkles then smoothed out paper.

When I saw the new challenge for Curtain Call - Flip Flops, I knew this embossing folder would be part of the plan.

I thought the embossed paper looked a bit like beachy sand...so I inked it with some antique linen distress ink.  I stamped and added some wink of stella to the flip flops,  heat embossed the sentiment on vellum and  mounted the panel off set on a neutral card base.

Curtian Call - Bouquet

I've been playing with my MISTI stamp tool along with Altenew's Vintage roses. I always had trouble lining the layers up, but this tool...wow! Pricey but wow! I was trying to figure out color combinations and had made several roses...so they were perfect to put together in a bouquet.  Perfect for the Curtain Call's Inspiration Challenge - Bouquet.

 

I took my inspiration from the bunch of multi-colored flowers, the glass vase and the blue couch in the background.

 Of course the roses have a bit of WOS on them, but the glittery loveliness is so hard to capture in a photograph.  The bowl portion of the card is thanks to Stampendous' Bowl Bouquet, and those glass marbles in the bottom, are covered in glossy accents, to provide a bit of texture. I water-colored the bowl and grounding area, the flowers were stamped with combinations of Hero Arts, Simon Says Stamp and WPlus9 dye inks.

The water color panel and the card face were die cut using WPlus 9 dies.

Hugs and Kisses

I was looking at challenges, and the inspiration photo at the Curtian Call Inspiration challenge struck me. I loved all those bold chevron patterns.

 

 Not to long ago I won a bit of blog candy from Michele Ferguson.  The matted embossed panel of x's and o's is one of the several embossed sheets she included. I had a piece of chevron glitter paper and die cut a photo frame out of it. I also die cut the Sending two times and covered it with clear Wink of Stella. A sentiment was added from the Sending and Wishing stamp set.

I actually missed the challenge date...somehow I did not look at the date that the challenge closed. It was for the Nov 1 Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge which closed the 10th. I made the card the 11th.

The inspiration photo has lovely bright colors- purple, blue and a yellow. I also liked that wood plank wall and the bits of old metal on the drawer and the lamp. I wish I had put the idea in my head to paper before the challenge closed, though.  Still, I love the card so I am sharing it with you.

It took several tries to get that watercolor panel the way I wanted it. I chose to put the blue in the middle as it blended well with both the purple and the yellow.  Purple does not blend well with yellow---it makes brown, I have pretty trash to prove it.

I am still going to post the card and it will go in my stash. I have several birthdays coming up in the next month.
