Thank you

What do you do when you wake up in the middle of the night with a card idea that won't let you sleep?   I get up and make the darned card.

Such is the case this wee early morning.  (I've always said 3am should never be seen unless you haven't been to sleep!)

CAS Mix up has been nagging at my brain, and I had the perfect dies for it.  They are Simon Says Stamp's  partial cut flowers.  I do know how to perform the technique by stopping the die cutting before it completes the design, but I love these little blooms and they are partially die cut so should qualify.

I've laid out my flower dies on the front panel, taped them in place and cut them, then I did the same to a dark gray scrap.  I sandwiched the dark gray panel between the main and cardbase.

Before adhering it I pushed the petals outward for some dimension. I added some foam dots to keep the petals from lying flat again.

Before adding the sequin centers I die cut the panel to add stitching and a scalloped edge. All was mounted onto a pale gray cardbase and the sentiment was stamped and then heat embossed.

I added some interest to the top petals free hand using a pale gray marker.

This photo shows a close up of the partial diecut, the under petals, the stitching, and the marker strokes on the petals.

This was a very quick and easy card to make, writing up the post took twice as long.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Well, I didn't see 3am but was up til 2 after chorus playing on a puzzle. Looks like you accomplished more than I did, Cat!! Just love your trio of partially cut flowers - perfect with the details you added!!

A simple card and yet lots of lovely little details. I particularly like the subtle colouring and the extra layer on the flowers, perfect xx

Oh, wow, this is amazingly cute! I LOVE those flowers with their lifted petals, and the sequin centers are awesome! I never do anything but toss and turn when I can't sleep. Such a waste of time! My stamp room is right across the hall from our bedroom and I'm concerned I'll wake Rich up. I do sometimes stay awake thinking about a card, but more often I'll lull myself to sleep thinking about card making. I tell myself to think happy thoughts, and those are happy thoughts.

Definitely still CAS but also really interesting with all that dimension. I’m glad you added the foam to keep them popped up even if you mail it. Great idea!

I totally relate to that 'sleep deprived design!' Cat - this die is darling, and so is your card! I vote that it should very well be allowed!

I do 3 am card-making when I have a jet lag. :-P
This is such a lovely partially die-cut daisy card, Cat! I actually have this die set but I haven’t used it and you inspired me to use it.
Adding the dimension to the petals with foam dots is so clever and I love that you added the light gray color to the petals. Gem stones are a shiny and pretty finishing touch!
Thank you so much for making this card in the very early morning and sharing it with us at CAS Mix Up!
