Muse 121

Oh this card by Michele for the Muse Challenge #121 is just gorgeous.  I unabashedly CASED it with supplies I had on hand that I felt gave a very vigorous nod to her card, if not an all out SHOUT!

Here is my version:

I started with some modeling paste and the Tim Holtz woodgrain stencil, once the paste was on I added Rock Candy dry glitter.

While that  dried, I cut three Simon Says Stamp Leaf Columns from water color paper, using distress inks in mowed lawn and shabby shutters, I randomly and roughly colored them.  I found 6 sequins that were larger, 3 very light silvery blue and 3 navy just a bit smaller, stacked them and added a touch of true blue Stickles to the centers then a dollop of glossy accents on top. I wanted shiny dimension.

Lastly I die cut Simon Says Stamp Friends die (chopping off the s) and heat embossed a sentiment from  Simon's Friendship Messages onto the same blue scrap of cardstock.

What a fabulous take on Michele's card, Cat! I love the texture and variation in colors on the leaf columns in contrast to the softness of the woodgrain pattern in the background! Really striking card!

Oh Cat! You've done it! Colors, design, and LOOK at that wood-grain... you know I'm a sucker for that! I am so pleased to see this darling in the Muse gallery ... thanks so much for playing cards with me at Muse!

love how you took the muse card and stayed close to it, but switched thing up with the modeling paste, so clever and beautiful

I really love the textures you created in your card while still having that clean and simple look. It's soo pretty. Very striking!

It's a brilliant card. Very similar to the original but with your own design style. The original idea and the colour palette are so clever it's hard to avoid copying it (I know I'll be giving it a try at some point).
