Hello-
I needed a sympathy card for a very good friend. I didn't want to use the last one I had in my stash, it needed to be special. I used SSS Leaf dies one the leafy branch the other the outline. I cut the solid in vellum and the outline in gold. I left three leaves in from the outline die. A small but heartfelt sentiment and here is my card.
I am entering this card at Addicted to CAS- Sympathy.
Some of my crafty friends know as I was soliciting opinions last week; after we arrived home from visiting Hubs folks in Ohio, I set about making my card for a GD spot. In the process of embossing a piece of paper with my beloved Vagabond...I killed it. Not the paper, not the folder---but my trusty cutter of 8 years.
So the search began for a replacement. I need an electric cutter as my grip is not strong and hand cranking can be painful.
This past weekend I welcomed a Gemini Jr to the crafty space. I love that it self feeds, its smaller so I have more desk space to destroy with bits and pieces. I have figured out a sandwich that allows me to use the magic mat to cut so yay on all sides. I have an old spellbinders grand calibur that I will use for the embossing folders. Hubs has offered to crank...
So after rearranging my work are for the new hardware I hope to be back at the crafty desk, making more cards after a slow spring and summer.
Thanks so much for visiting.

Your card is absolutely BEAUTIFUL in all its simplicity Cat...LOVE it!! And YAY for the new die cutter...hope you get years and years and years of good use from it!! Hugs. :0)
Such a beauty with the gold and vellum sprig, Cat - sure to be of comfort! Glad you replaced your Vagabond - like I told you, I killed one a few years ago but was able to get a Vagabond 2. If that one goes, I'll keep the Gemini Jr in mind :)
This is just so stunning and gorgeous, such a good idea to use the gold and vellum. I have a feeling you sent me a die cut from that die. I don't think I have used it yet, so I must seek it out. I love that you have left a couple of gold leaves in place. Very stylish. What a shame it was needed but I am sure it brought some solace to the receiver. Glad to hear you have made a decision re your electronic die cutter. I hope it lasts as long as your vagabond did xx
Sure to make them feel hugged, Cat! and very pretty, too.
Good luck with your new machine - I hope you love it from the first cut to the last [in at least 8 more years!]

Oh, it's beautiful, Cat! I would say this is a very special sympathy card. I'm glad you found the right cutter for you. I know people who use the Gemini, but I have no personal experience. I would be lost without my Big Shot!
This is very special indeed, Cat! The gold outline with the solid vellum is very elegant! I'm glad you found what you are looking for and are happy with it. May it last for a long, long time!
This is simple and elegant and very serene, Cat, perfect for a sympathy card. I love the gold and vellum together. It was clearly made with love and I'm sure it will be cherished. I'm happy you found a sandwich for your new baby and I hope you love it as much as I love mine. I wish I'd gotten mine years ago! Hugs, Darnell
A lovely card for the occasion. Yay for a new machine!
Simply said, and simply beautiful -- sometimes that's the best, but sorry that you needed one.
Congrats on your new purchase tho! Enjoy!
The sympathy card is classy & definitely special for your friend. Happy to hear you got the Gemini Jr & that it's working good for you! I have yet to try my magic mat in mine, but may soon.
