 Greetings--

A conundrum.  Have you had a stamp set or sets that are similar to something shiny and new out there and you feel pulled toward the shiny and new...but your conscience says you have something very similar?

I' find myself in that spot right now.  Usually, I can stick with the old and forget about the new...but this time I had to play with the old to see if I'd be satisfied.

Here is my card which I have pretty much CASED from my Stampin Up Demonstrator Brandy Cox

Her card is darling and I have one in my possession. So it was easy to CASE it.

I used SSS set Sending Happy Thoughts for the sentiment, and the blooms are from Altenew's Wildflower set. I used Altenew inks. Although I have the butterflies I didn't add them and I chose a colored card base instead of white.

Here is a link to Brandy's card - its actually a video.

The stamp sets are so similar...but the differences:

The SU bundled set comes with dies (I don't have dies for the Altenew set)

The Sending Sentiment comes as a die and stamp with a shadow layer and fits across the card front.

There is a cone flower (I love them) in the SU set.

The coordinating sentiments in the SU set are bigger easier to read and there are more than in the SSS set.

So...a decision must be made...What do you think?  Thanks for stopping by.

I hear ya Cat, and have to admit I'm usually pretty weak and end up buying the newer version! I can't help you with this one though as your card is a PERFECT CASE of the SU! card! I think I might pass, but then again..... I know, I know, I'm NO help!! Sorry! :0)

Just love your card, Cat - great CASE of Brandy whose video I enjoyed immensely! Luckily, I'd already placed an order at SU - wouldn't want to be enabled on that Sending Smiles set :) (I limited myself to the geranium one). Anyway - great set and price point with the dies - I'd say go for it!!

Pretty CAS card, Cat! That's a tough decision. I guess I would ask myself, will I ever use the old if i get the new? Or maybe just buy the dies for the old? Good luck!

I think your card is perfect. However... we've all been in that conundrum, and it sounds like you've made your choice via your comments in the post (wink)

Now this is a fresh and pretty card and a fabulous CASE. I would hold onto your money this time as you know you'll want something new again very soon Cat x.

I love this set, Cat - and you've really stamped those pretty wildflowers so beautifully. Based on this card, I hate to recommend that you pass* - especially before I watch Brandy's video!! Whatever you do, we will all be delighted to see the new!

* I have been doing a LOT of passing lately!

Great CASE, Cat, and a really cheerful beautiful card! The fact that you're asking means you are leaning toward no, or at least that's how my mind works and I agree with no in this case. Your card is amazingly similar in my mind; the differences are really subtle. Save your money for something new and UNIQUE! Hugs, Darnell

Oh this is so pretty and you are right those flowers are very similar. I was going to say you should resist, but I know you are usually very good at resisting things which makes me think you really want that set and you do list some extra positives about it, so I say go for it. Treat yourself, you deserve it. Perhaps you could gift the old one xx

I often have this same problem, Cat! When you love something it's hard not to buy into bigger and better. I like the smaller sentiment that you've used and the stamps are so similar. Your card is beautiful! I'd lean toward saving for something else.

At this point, I'm not buying much. Instead, I focus on buying things I absolutely love. If you love the SU bundle, I say get it. Your card is lovely!

Gorgeous colors and nice combination of the supplies you own. What I do know is that I really like a number of the SU stamp and die sets in the new catalog!

Wow, your card is so crisp and beautiful and very similar to the SU set. I sure love these colors. Only you can make up your mind. I tend to buy stamps when I don't have anything exactly like it, BUT it's nice to have the whole works (love the dies) in one set so you don't have to pull from all over. I watched the video and now I want to buy the set and all the in color cardstocks and inks. That's how bad I am.

Your card is so pretty and cheerful. I always like the bright colors because they bring a smile to your face. I have totally been buying like crazy the last month. I am also really working on using up patterned paper and going through and using old stamps too. So it is a bit of old and new for me too. I may be going through and cleaning out so old stamps to make room for the new. Good luck with your decision!

Hi Cat. Just throwing in my 2cents worth ... I actually like the flowers on your card better. The shape of them is more appealing to me than the SU! set. I would stick with the lovely set you have and use your money to buy something completely different. Either way ... the card you made for your post is gorgeous with those bright mix of colours. Fabulous card Cat! xx
