Birthday Wishes

Hubs likes the nature cards, so for his birthday he got a schmoozy card which I am not posting, and this nature card.  He rated it top 5 of all the masculine cards I've made.  So I'm calling it a winner of a birthday card!

The bird and foliage is from a Stampin Up set called Moon Lake, and the tone on tone stamped wood grain is also from Stampin Up called Hardwood. It is hands down my favorite wood grain stamp. I used distress markers for the watercoloring, and the frame was cut using dies by MFT - stitched pinking edge square.

Fall Flowers

I can not stop making flower cards, so I am making them in a fall yellow...its a bit darker than a bright lemon or sunshine yellow.

I sat down to play with a new set from Hero Arts - Color Layering for You Flowers.  I haven't mailed out cards in almost a month, and I need to build up my stash.  All but one have the same design, but differing sentiments along with differing embelishments.  I am gonna claim that individualizes them. :-)

I used inks from Hero Arts (Soft Apricot, Orange Soda) and Simon Says Stamp (Sunshine, Olive); along with some Onyx Black Versafine for the sentiments.  The panel was cut with a WPLUS9 die from the sunshine layers set.

Just a note cubed

Hi crafty friends!  I picked up a few of the AI square stamps that have a little saying around the outside of the square.  I had an idea to make the stamp a bit more versatile.

MFT's square frames fit almost exactly around those squares and make nice little frames as if they were tiny works of art...well maybe they are depending on the colorist.

I had a lot of fun with them, but I am super glad I chose to heat emboss the images, those are tiny spaces to color in.

 

 

I picked them up as I am always looking for something manly and these fit the bill.

Happy Anniversary

One of my crafty friends is having an anniversary...so I whipped up a quick card using the adorable bird couple from the new Paper Smooches Feathered Friends set.

I admit I went a little overboard with the bling dots, but they are so tiny and well it is a celebratory card!

A lil note

I recently made a similar card, and when I came upon a small strip of pink cardstock, I thought I would make another card with the front aperture showing the inside focal point.  A sentiment was stamped around the opening using Simon Says Stamps circular sentiment set called Circle Sayings. The tulip comes from Simons as well - Bookmarking set.

It is a small little greeting, 4" by 2.75". The nearest most petal of the tulip is covered with wink of stella and glossy accents to give the flower some dimension.

I love Fall

A few weeks ago, Betty of Created by BJK contacted me and asked if I wanted to work on a combined blogging post.  We talked and decided Betty would send me a packet of supplies and a challenge and I was to make two cards for posting, and of course she would also make two cards with the same kit items.

I went a little overboard, and ended up with 8 cards, but am only posting my two that meet her challenge guidelines.  Her packet of fun stuff included: Some Japanese Maple leaves from her own tree, they were coated with glossy accents and had some gold flecks added. They are fabulous.  She also included several items from Hero  Arts, Concord and 9th, PTI and some fabulous copper paper from Neenah.  There were embossed stamped words, die cuts, gems, and enamel dots.

Here it is mostly spread out, the Japanese Maple Leaves aren't in the photograph, but I have one on a card.


My Challenge from Betty,  make one Halloween card and one Fall or Thanksgiving card. 

I've always wanted to try an inked sunset kind of sky and I chose that for my Halloween card. I used distress inks in 4 shades. The bats are left overs from a die cut a few years ago.  I put all my seasonal die cuts in an old Stampin Up clam shell so they don't get tossed out in a fit of cleaning.  I stacked Betty's die-cuts 3 deep and they make a nice sturdy sentiment. I used a cream colored card-base instead of white.

My second card is for the Fall/Thanksgiving portion of the challenge.  Betty sent me a wonderful selection of vellum a while back and I have been saving it.  I brought it out for this card, and those gorgeous leaves.

It is adorned with one of Betty's fabulous Japanese Maple leaves, and the interior of the card is one of the patterned papers, a soft  red-ish pinky coppery conglomeration of colors. It looks so fabulous behind this cloudy patterned vellum. This is my favorite card of the bunch!

WCMD 2016

Hello!

It seems that Mr. Mojo who had taken a bit of a snooze lately woke up just in time for World Card Making Day 2016.  I pulled my bin of new stamps onto my table and went to work.  I didn't play any challenges, I just wanted to play to please myself.

I wasn't quite ready for fall cards yet, but as you go through them you can see the transition.

Red Birthday

One of the crafty ladies in my Tuesday Crafty group had a birthday recently, and she decided to throw her own party.  She invited 7 of the gals to go to Paradise PA, and spend the day at Farmhouse Memories.  This is a fabulous shop with cropping space for 8 above the shop.  The shop itself has card-making, scrap-booking, and fabrics.  Something for everyone in our group.  I have to say the fabrics were phenomenal prints.

I took a few pictures along the way.

I was so thankful to be included in this wonderful day with some fantastic women.  It was the most fun of any girly/crafty get together I have had since moving to the east coast.  The 2.5-3 hour drive each way went by so fast as well.  It was a long day, but it flew by in an instant there was so much that was new to me.  I had never seen tobacco drying in fields. The wash hanging out had us all convinced Thursday was laundry day in Amish country.

Here is the birthday card I made for the birthday gal, she loves RED.

In my rush to get everything together before the outing I forgot to photograph the card.  So the next Tuesday I took a quick picture at the card's new home.  My friend is a fiesta ware fan, and I loved where she displayed the card, so I took the photo as is.
