Hello -
I am alive and well. I know its been 10 days since I last posted. I have made two cards in that time for design team challenge in the future hence no recent posting. I just have been mojo less, and completely out of desire to make cards, partly because I want to make fall cards and somehow my quirky brain balks at the thought of doing so before September. So I have enjoyed my little vacay from the craft table.
Today, I tried a technique that I have seen quite a bit of around blog land. It hails from Kathy Racoosin called print making. The instructive video is here. I am sending this card to Seize the Birthday and Just Us Girls.
So I am not a patient person. I rarely will try a technique more than twice if I don't get results I like. I'll give this another shot with a better die choice.
This one, worked but with a tweek. I die cut my butterflies, colored them while they sat on a piece of watercolor paper, then I flipped them and pressed them into the paper. Then I let it all dry. I put the butterflies together and prepared to place them on the watercolor card base. And it was just too busy.
The print was far to pigmented, I wanted more of a hint of the butterfly. So I spritzed the watercolor card and put a towel on it to lift color. I ended up doing that twice and I loved what resulted.
I added the butterflies, (in full disclosure...that third butterfly that is only half...it landed in some black ink and had to be punished...lol...I wasn't going to die cut and color another so I made it work.!)
A few matching sequins and a few gold ones to add to the festive feel. It was all mounted on a matching card base with a clean black sentiment stamped on the watercolor piece. I am quite happy with the result! Give the technique a try.
Thanks for visiting!

Wow Cat - your print turned out beautifully!! What a great idea to blot color that didn't work for you - it's just perfect!! Great butterflies too, even the naughty one who flew into black off the page :) Glad you had a nice vacay and great to see your mojo return!!
Your mojo is back with a bang Cat, this card is gorgeous! Love the print background, must check that technique out. The butterflies are super pretty in those colours too. Thankyou for playing along at Seize the Birthday too, Cathy x
This is just really pretty, Cat. I do love the colors you worked with. I'm not a patient person, either, and generally my concern with techniques is that it won't turn out. I've been wanting to try this one, though. It's good to see you today!
Sure doesn't look like lost mojo to me, Cat. I love the colors and butterflies you used and a technique I may try if I get courage.
How pretty and dreamy, Cat ... I love how you lightened the 'printed' background to add delicacy to this dainty trio of butterflies (or two and a half!). Looks as though Monsieur Mojo is back en forme! Hugs, Anita :)
I'm sorry you've misplaced your mojo... I know the cooler temperatures coming your way will help... and September is right around the corner!
In the meantime, Tom and I both love your butterflies... wishing you hadn't punished no. 3, but I understood. lol
Take care, my friend!

Glad you persevered Cat as it is such a pretty card. I love the wispy background and the then the vibrancy of he butterflies....Had a little chuckle about the 'half' butterfly.....x
Hi, I saw your more recent post but had to go back to check out the Print Making technique you mentioned. I love the look of the backgrounds from this technique and will have to try it. Even though you had to play around with it more than expected, your card and background turned out lovely.
this is gorgeous, Cat - ever since I saw Kathy do the "printmaking" video I have intended to do it and just keep putting it off - another inspiration from you!
I think your hiatus from card making sparked your mojo! This is beautiful Cat! I too did something similar with my card at JUGS this week. I am so in love with the color blue you used. What ink is that? It's so vibrant! The sequins were a great touch. Thanks for sharing your talents with us at both Seize the Birthday and Just Us Girls.
Another beautiful and stunning card. I love the delicate background and the color matching butterflies.
I think I will give that technique a try if I can find the time to get round to it. There are always things on my must to do list and what gets done is usually quite random. I love that butterfly background it has turned out really well and I actually think the half butterfly turned out to be a happy accident as it works really well. So glad to see you posting again xx
I had trouble getting the look I wanted, too. Maybe I'll try again, but so many techniques to try--haha! Anyway, your card turned out to be totally delightful, Cat!
I love the blue-yellow butterflies and the "hint of butterflies" in the background! Your card is super pretty! Thank you so much for playing along at Seize the Birthday! Hope your mojo is back now :)!
